when u guys get an engine street ported..does it mean that you're just porting the size of your wastegate? what else do they do when they rebuild ur engine for street performance?

Street porting refers to the intake and exhaust ports in the housings being shaped and enlarged to flow better. It also changes how much air and fuel get into the chamber, like putting a bigger camshaft in a piston engine(oops I used the "p" word! lol). Street port is mild, bridge port is way bigger and periferal port is retarded huge. If your going to drive your car all the time, street port only, hence the name...

How is that a rip off? It's not like a street port cost that much (maybe around $300). However, it does require quite a bit of disassembly so most people wait until they need a rebuild to have it done.

I think you are confusing the prices of a "rebuild + streetport" verses just doing the "street porting" itself.

up to 15% more HP for $350 worth of porting! I wouldn't call that much of a rip off...

(obviously you'll need to be rebuilding the engine at the same time for the porting to only cost you $350) For a rebuild and porting you'll be looking at ~$2,800 - $3,000.

They have to completely take your engine apart then rebuild it to do a street port. Labor wise it would be like boring out a pistons engines block for an extra $350 while getting a rebuild done

Actually he did a good job by telling him to search. This was a very basic question that can be answered by many previous threads. Although he only has 4 posts he seems to have figured out the way we want the forum to work already. Good job bro

is that your point? then why would you not have searched yourself and "helped" this member out with a answer

to the original poster. this is a result of all the threads that have the word "street port" in the title ONLY. hope this helps.

From what I know aggressive street porting will get you 7-12% more power above 3k rpms. It hurts power in less than 3k rpms.
