Stock Fuel Injector Access & Removal

Hi,

My research has me reading:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ispreloading=1
and
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-arch...cement-232603/
As well as Service Manual Page F-105, and some YouTube videos (which seem to have better access with aftermarket setups)

After feeling somewhat accomplished by taking off the UIM relatively 'quickly' I'm now seeking forum assistance. :/

Engine bay currently looks like:

(Coil box removed)

According to the threads above, the rats nest doesn't have to be removed -- just 'moved a little' ? I'm only interested in accessing the Primary injectors (unsure if secondary needs to come out first). Am i close to the injectors? Just remove much of the rats nest and the covers will be revealed?

Thanks for any suggestions!
Ed

You are going to have to dig lower, they are under the EGR valve and the rats nest wiring.

Can you even get to the primaries with the EGR valve in place? I'd suggest removing it altogether. Those primaries are fairly close to the LIM. OP, you'll need enough room to get the primary rail disconnected, o rings removed, and the spacer removed without losing it. In other words, getting there will be tedious, and you'll need some space to work once there.

If your memory is like mine, take lots of pictures to help put things back...especially the vac lines. I’d get that lower intake covered up before going any farther. I used masking tape but whatever works.

Air Control Valve, ACV. EGR would be on the other side if equipped

The ACV is held on with 3 10mm nuts. If you use 1/4" drive sockets with LONG extensions and get a 10mm socket that has a built-in universal you can get to all 3 not too bad.

With that out of the way that frees up a lot of space and you should be able to see the primaries at this point. They are DEEP in there, bolted to the top of the center iron of the engine.
