help removing rats nest

i cant for the life of me find the rats nest in the manual ... how do i take the rats nest off? or the secondary air injection system .. ive taken two bolts from the rats nest .. cant find anymore bolts .. thing wont budge .. ive taken two bolts from the secondary air injection system .. thing wont budge ..

im trying to get to my fuel rails so i can check the secondary injector ... is there an easier way? would i need to take off either the rats nest or the secondary air injection system to get access to the secondary injector?

It's all in Section F.....lots of write-ups on removing the solenoid rack, Rob Robinette's and Crispy's sites come to mind (in FAQ thread)

The ACV should have four nut/bolts holding it to the LIM. There should be 2 on the top, and two on the bottom (IIRC).

There's 3 bolts on the SAI. There's one almost directly below the top one closes to the firewall.

You DO need to take the SAI off to get to the injectors.

That's correct. You do need to take the rats nest off as well as the SAI. Please make sure that you release the fuel pressure before you start.

To release the fuel pressure, start the engine like normal.
Remove the fuel pump relay (while the car is on)
After the engine stalls, turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Re-install the fuel pump relay.

Also, before to you disconnect any fuel lines, be sure to practice precaution. wrap a rag around the fuel lines to protect against fuel leakage. Lastly be sure to plug the hoses after you remove them.

IMO, just remove the coil bracket, then undo the fuel lines to the rats nest, lastly undo the 3 bolts which hold the whole thing down to the block. For me, it's much easier than messing with those screws.

Once you have the whole thing out, replace those screws with something else. I used allen head screws for the replacements.

If they tear taking them out, they need to be replaced. You can just pick up some 5/16" fuel injection hose from Advanced Auto.
