Spark plug wires?

Ive read a few threads and some of them were from 2005. What spark plug wires are good and which ones are a waste of money? I have a few mods but nothing crazy... streetport, 99 spec twins, fmic...

I bought the Jacobs wires from www.rx7.com

They seemed like a good set. It was between those and the NGks for me. Honestly I just decided to buy a USA product. I am sure they are both great.

Either standard NGK or if you want something 'better,' try the NGK Power Cables. We use those on most single turbo builds.

As a generality, why has the consensus always been stock NGKs?
I understand dont knock what works but just wondering why?
Thats what I was recommended, and use, but what is the argument for keeping the stockers over a supposedly “better” set?

I would like to know as well. Is there something wrong with the Jacobs wires I have? Am I going to get electrical interference?

Boots that don't fit, connections that come loose, arcing and break-up, noise.

I considered replacement with aftermarket wires during a rebuild. But after doing some reading and for my mildly modded engine, everyone seemed to recommend staying with the stock NGK. Never had any of the above issues.

I've personally had issues with Taylors and Magnecore on my FD over the years. Basically the issues Sgt Blue mentions above me.

I can't speak to all brands out there of course, but we've had zero issues with the NGK standard and power cable wires, and it's one less thing to worry about IMO.

Personally, I use Magnacor wires and have used them for 8+ years. However it seems people can't figure out how to put the wires on properly so I don't recommend them to the general public. I don't want people messaging me because they can't figure out how to keep them from popping off.

^not trying to throw Kyle's fav Magnecores under the bus...... I've seen one or two newish sets lead to ignition breakup, and these were installed correctly. Of course, there may be many happy customers out there, so 'YMMV' as they used to say

Looks like I'll be buying a set of the stock NGK's. Are the power cables better or just stick with the stockers?

without details on your power levels, we can't really answer your question
