Rob Dahm – We Port the 3 Rotor Engine. Flow ALL the AIR!
And I think Rob approaches some of his cars like a programmer or a science student working on a side-project: try something different because you wonder how it will turn out. You might get lucky and exceed expectations, but there's not much pressure if the results are sub-optimal. Perhaps one car has the wrong turbo because one of his industry contacts asked if he wanted that particular model for free and he didn't get any alternatives. Or perhaps he picked the wrong one for this iteration of this car because he hopes to change things around and use it for another car or another iteration in the future.
This is actually the most accurate assumption. I have no formal or contractual requirements to use any specific product. Ive made quite a few 2 rotor missteps but they are also much easier to see as so many people have them. 3 and 4 rotors are uncharted territory. I do strongly believe my twisted approaches to the 2 rotor have taught me some amazing things to extract more hp out of the larger motors. My strategy is basically to try weird **** on the 2 rotor and apply what i learned to the big ones. For example last august i had a horrible month with the c5 trying different things, but it taught me so many things about fuel injection timing, individual rotor tuning with both o2 sensors and egts amongst many other fine details.
I blew the synchros on the c5 3rd gear or i would be beating the absolute **** out of it right now. I love that build dearly. dont have time to dig into it with all the plans sadly. Hiring another mechanic to help with the maintenance type tasks so i can focus on the big pushes and improving my driving.

well don’t take anything I say too much to heart, my thoughts don’t amount to anything when it comes to making your own choices for what ever reason, as we all should.

I'm not sure if this belongs in this thread or the 'youtube for the discerning gentleman' thread. But I think it's really impressive that he finished with a respectable time at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Congrats, Rob. The video is a great watch.
Great series of vids from Rob Dahm, really highlights all the hurdles they had to overcome. Highly entertaining, glad he finished with that time.
Went down a rabbit hole and it seems there were some other FD's that made it up the hill back when it was still dirt. Maybe those times don't count because different course or vehicle classification?
edit: found the full 1995 IMSA Supercar Race. Looks like they used a shorter course that didnt end at the top, it finished at Devil's playground area.

if I had made the very first post starting this thread, all hades would have broken loose and collapsed the RX7Club universe …
even this post might do it even given recent history.
