Thanks but I think it's just a combination of editing and being close to dusk.

I (think) I'm with Jacob. Initially, I thought the '99 parking lights were too "geometric" like a parallelogram, but once I went (plate-less) '99, I never looked back, even with my OE bumper hanging in the garage staring at me...

Ironically, it's the lights that are the difference to me. Even the aftermarket ones that came out for the 93-95 don't look as modern as the '99s. Lot's of people seem to focus on the "smile" but I focus on the "eyes" and the larger openings, and it makes me see the '99 as more aggressive.

Maybe if there were some really cool LED line 93-95 versions, but I still wouldn't give up the larger mouth openings for track use. The oil cooler openings in particular are significantly larger.

The 99 look is definitely cool with the bigger openings but you need the wing to balance it and with both in place vs bone stock base model it just seems to lengthen the car because it's slightly longer and taller looking so then you MUST put some bad *** fat wheels and tires on it and then it's perfect LOL

The bone stock 93 base look is pretty bad *** just lowered. Hell you don't even need a lip just lower that bitch on stock wheels and it's a sexy car.

The 93-95 bumper looks good to me because it is original. Everybody is changing to the 99+, why? I know it flows better, but i don't race my car. I feel like the old style is going to become the rarer look for an FD, especially with the touring fog lights.

I am also one that doesn't focus on the 'smile' therefore it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, if one looks for a face then the 93's are even worse. With a stupid O-face and all...

P.S. I apologize if the red car belongs to a forum member I am only using it for visual purposes. As I said earlier, I like the 93 bumper but it does have a face if one looks for it.

Mmm... I don't know... If you scroll up and cut the flip ups out of the picture the face is gone completely. In the 99 the face comes from the fact that the 99 bumper lights have a round (eyeball) light inside. Just my opinion, of course.

Well its all perception and that all depends on who is looking. IMO and again if I looks for it, then the O-face is still there now the FD now has its eyes closed lol. Anyway, I am not bagging on the 93 bumper as I really like it. I'm just pointing it out to those that claim about the so called 'smile'

I still see some sort of bottom feeding fish with the 93 bumper because I still picture the blinker as eyes but the 99 is worse it's like some smiling cartoon caricature but the larger opening are undeniably cool and effective so it's a wash to me. So DD type car 93 all the way, track performance variety 99 or some other bumper with a big mouth.

Off topic...

A few years back I saw special on TV where they were talking about how people see religious faces on inanimate objects. According to the experts the search for facial features has been pre-programmed from birth so as babies we recognize our parents. Hence, we see faces in anything and everything.

Also talking about perception. One thing that was ruined for me years ago was the toyota emblem

It's nice, simple that is until someone points out it looks like a Mexican wearing a sombrero... lulz

(Still have my '93 I drove off the lot with the original front and love it!)
Exactly....Add an emblem to the 99 spec without the license plate and it looks great. A front mount would also do the trick, or both.
The license plate looks terrible and probably sucks for aerodynamics for what it matters

I prefer the 99+ front end. By itself it has the ability to just update the entire car. As far as the plate, I prefer the look of the plate on it. Also living in TX I don't ever have to worry about getting tagged with no front plate. And if I ever move somewhere where there is no front plate law, I can try to track down one of those RX-7 Front plates.

Practically speaking. I noticed a drop of at least 6-10 C cruising on the highway. Before I would have it kicking on the fans every so often. Now, unless I am stopped, the fans don't go near being kicked on. Unfortunately in colder weather, it doesn't like getting up to temp as easily. Haha.
