some people are saying put a 180 fan switch in,i hear they said to use teh FC fan switch.Is this true the FC fan switch is lower temp,if so is it a straight bolt on for the FD?

so i can goto the autopart store and sayi need a fan switch for what year FC?and tell them i need the 180 degree switch,or stock its 180?

They'll probably look at you with glazed eyes and slobber on themselves a bit before telling you they don't have it. I believe it's a S5 TII switch only, but ray @ malloy mazda knows exactly what you need if you tell him what you're looking for.

It is also available at Napa (part number ECHFS260) it is easier to order if you know their number

 

You need to read all the posts on this (search), but realize this switch only controls the temp when the fans kick into high speed (of three speeds). If you have an Apexi PFC you can control the lower temp as well; then there is the bypass mod that allows you to manually turn on high at any time you like. Each method (and some combinations) has its merits. . .

Great post referenced here. . .Need to be careful in that it says this mod is not needed if you have aftermarket Apexi PFC. This is not true. PFC only controls when initial (low speed) fan temperature kicks in. Dale and others have posted about this later but it never made it into the original thread. Thermoswitch controls the temperature when the high speed kicks in after initial and load (a/c) speeds have kicked in.
