Koyo question/ help (I searched)
I installed my Koyo radiator last night and I have some questions that maybe some pre-koyo installers can anwser. Just to let you know before I get flammed I DID SEARCH.
Ok, my Koyo fit almost perfectly in the pre existing brackets so I was really happy and was like "man this is going to be easier than I thought. I bolt it in and start putting the intercooler scoop and intercooler back in. Well I knew the intercooler was going to sit a bit higher, but the back of the interooler scoop is being pushed up by the fan shroud and making the angle of the radiator IMPOSSIBLE to connect the greddy hard pipe to my enfini y pipe. Did anyone have to modify the intercooler scoop to make this work? I also had to modify my battery tray so the fan wouldn't rub againt it. Did I do something wrong? I can't figure out what to do besides cut the damn intercooler scoop, which I DONT want to do.
Any sugestions?
thanks,
josh

^Thanks for that stunning new report Capt Obvious. I understand that sometime with the Koyo there is a fit issue, but I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and what did they do about it.
thanks,

My AC condesner fits in the correct brackets, but the back of the IC scoop is on the fans causing the IC to angle up and not allowing the greddy pipes to fit.

I had a hell of a time getting mine to fit, but I did not have to cut anything off the fan housing. I had to cut off some of the flanges on the koyo to get it to sit down where the rest would fit, and its a very tight fit.

See my similar thread for info, and note the link to another thread where there are instructions for lowering the Koyo. I have not done the lowering job yet, but probably need to as even though I have everything hooked up, my hood won't close. The duct is sitting too high.

I just spoke with my local rotary shop, and he confirms the Koyo is notorious for this problem. I'm not going to fool with it, but am taking the car to him to get things to fit.

the REAL deal

i went to a a machineshop and had them drill new holes in the brackets. to get a guesstimate on where the hole would be, i took everything out that would be in the koyo's way, and lowered it to where i wanted it (at thispoint i had to dremmel off some flange on the front bumper). then dotted one of the brackets at the point this would be.
after i had them machined i put it back together and while its a little snug on my M2 cold air intake, everything else fit fine.
