they probably didn’t know where to go since some Mazda dealerships will want to charge MSRP ~$7000 that someone else posted up recently and IRP was charging less. The no refund thing maybe came up during covid as well and nobody would ever imagine it’d be 2.5+ years. Which honestly there’s no reason for that other than malfeasance on IRPs part. The backorder line at Mazda doesn’t go back that far. People who ordered 6 months ago have received engines.

As I posted before, if it’s a CC charge then Mazda will be sending it as a pending charge to the CC account every so often during the backorder time period, but if at any given point the account lacks the funds for the pending charge then the order get’s kicked out and you’re back to the end of the backorder line.

This was exactly why at the time I didn't really know of ray being the go to guy just heard the name every now and again and I was quoted 8500 not including shipping or tax btw and a few months wait from a dealership. Irp was a name I had heard at the time and when I talked to them on the phone was super nice answered a few questions for me and seemed ok and they were supposed to have one in stock that I was later told was factory defective and the new orders would be in "soon".

They were at DGRR so surely they have time to ship out the 4 engines on that pallet right?

An update on my car.
Was told end of march, was told I was next, and I got nothing. Voicemail messages emails facebook message all I got was too busy short staffed can’t get everyone updated. But where’s my car? No idea. Beyond frustrated.
Dropped my car off end of May last year IIRC They had all my parts since december? Initial delay is my fault this month will marked the one year of engine rebuild on the RX8 and some other MISC stuff like radiator and oil cooler. Not allowed to see the car since it’s at a private location. Why take the job if you can’t finish it.
Worst thing is it’s my daily.

It isn't your daily anymore. Good luck getting your parts. I wish you the best of luck.

Amazed that you let it go a whole year.

Good luck.

I was sent an email April 4th saying they will refund me for the Xcessive LIM I ordered Jan 4th. I didn't even ask for the refund, they just offered it since it's not looking like the backorder will be filled any time soon. They told me 7-10 days for refund to process, well it's now over a month away and still no refund, they do however continue to respond to my emails saying they are looking into what happened here.

Pac Performance in Australia claims to have them in stock on their website, going to cost you to buy and ship one to North America if true though ($850 USD + shipping) …

If my info is correct, there are no engines yet. I ordered from Ray Crowe (trustworthy in my oppinion) 10-31-22 with an ETA of 1-10-23. I check in January and Ray told me they were delayed until March which I believe was then pushed to April. I checked again recently and he said Mazda is now saying August, although he feels like it may be sooner. Ray did not make me pay up front or give a deposit although I offered to do so. This leads me to believe Mazda hasn’t shipped engines yet, or I am way down the line and will be a later shipment, but I lean to the former from the info I have gotten from Ray.

not sure if you got an oil filler neck from them yet. But I ordered one in september of 2021 and they told me it would be a two month wait for it. I called and got a refund the next day because their website did not have any lead time listed in a User friendly location on the item page. I then ordered their exact oil filler neck from Lucky7Racing and got it within 3 days.

An update to my post; I know it's no consolation to anyone who has paid for an engine..... but Paul from IRP called me on the phone shortly after I posted this (I doubt this is related) as I had kept emailing looking for this refund. There was apparently some issue with their system trying to refund my transaction that wasn't flagged and they couldn't correct so it was overlooked. He ended up sending my a cheque in the mail which I have received and deposited. He still didn't have any idea when the Xcessive back orders were going to be filled; but in the end they made things right for my transaction.

I have messaged them twice since 5-31-23 asking them to explain to me why I did not get a call for one of the engines that they received since they told me I was 4th in line. no answer. and yes they have read the message. (I message to keep a record of communication) Just ignoring me at this point. So is it safe to ASSuME that they have not called anyone here for their engine? I wonder if they are just installing them in cars at their shop to clear up the backlog and saying "F you" to all of us.
