I'm 30, just got my FD a couple months ago. Every FD owner I've met in person has been older than me. I'm glad I didn't get my FD till I was older, otherwise I probably would never have made it to this age!

All of you older guys are right. The day I bought my 95 FD was one of the happiest days of my life.(I worked/saved for 4 yrs) Having one in High School has been a dream come true. I have wanted an RX-7 since the day I found out about their rotary motor and saw an FD in 93 when I was about 10. The 3rd Gen RX-7 is by far the best and truest sportscar anyone could possibly buy for less than 20 grand.(or even 50 grand) Because of my FD, I have been able to join SCCA and become very competetive in autocrossing. I love taking it to the old twisty farm roads and hauling ***, and smoking Camaros, Mustangs, T/A's and Vette's on the street is alot of fun too!!!

The down-side is high insurance, and people stereo-typing u as a punk rich kid in a bad *** rare sports car. (which from reading these posts...most of us are not)

And for all you kids that bought an FD mainly becuase of it's looks or because it was the Fastest car in "FAST AND THE FURIOUS", do some research...and you will find that you have something special and much more than just a cool looking car. Also...if you havent dont this already...race at atleast 1 autocross, so you will see why FDs are so amazing. (You will beat any equally modified Corvette, Viper(if u drive well), M3, TT 300ZX, or TT Supra)

I'm 38. I bought the car when I was 30 in Oct 93, a couple of years after getting an inheritance. I was with a friend who was car shopping when I came across a silver touring FD with 14,000 miles on it. He ended up not buying a car and I did.

I've left it stock, but since I bought it, it has left a white fog behind under heavy acceleration. I've learned in this forum that that is a sign of impending doom with the engine seals - it only got another 55,000 miles before crapping out completely.

In highschool I drove a Fiat X19 - a fun, light mid-engined Italian.

you win for being the only one over the age of 4 that still uses 3/4 and 1/2's for telling how old you are. i am now 24 and 9/10ths. LOL!
yeah, you definately win. your prize will be in the mail. please allow 4 1/2 to 6 and 3/4 weeks for it to arrive.

I'm 21 and my mercedes was flooded in the greater Houston storm. I got the insurance money for that and guess what I threw all of it in to! Thats right a 93 black on tan rx-7. Been a 7 owner for only a couple of months. Haven't even driven the car yet, so no feelings about the girl yet hahah. I've never seen money dissapear so quickly. Man sounds like i'm dating a real girl. HAHAHAHAHAHAH

Good luck with yours man.

Cool

I got my 3rd Gen right after I turned 14! My dad has one and also owns NAPA auto parts in our town, so all the shops and dealers knew he had one. Anyway, one of the dealers right down the street called us and said he had one, but none of his mechanics knew how to fix it, so it was VERY cheap. We put a new engine it for only 1700 bucks from Mazda, and I have added a m2 downpipe, cat-back exhaust, Yoko AVS dB tires, boost gauge, and will soon be adding an R1 front spoiler and Efini badges(for Christmas) I am now almost 16, in March, and I am VERY EXCITED!!! The RX-7 has been my dream car ever since my dad's friend bought one in '95. No one ever believes it is a '93, they think it's brand new because of the amazing design and technology.
DODGE OWES THE SUCCESS OF THE VIPER TO MAZDA, BECAUSE WITHOUT THE 3RD GEN RX-7, THERE WOULD EITHER BE NO VIPER OR IT WOULD LIKE CRAP, anytime someone sees my car they automatically think it is a Viper, even my best friend who has seen my car many times thought the red rx-7 in the "fast and the furious" was a viper!!!!! The whole world knew what the Rx-7 looked like even in '90-'91 when Mazda started cold weather testing it, that gave Dodge 4 years to copy the design and release the Viper a year after the 3rd Gen rx-7!! LOOK AT THE LINES ON A VIPER AND RX-7, THEY ARE SO MUCH ALIKE, THE DOUBLE-BUBBLE ROOFLINE, THE DOOR HANDLES, THE DIPS IN THE HOOD, ETC, DODGE JUST TOOK THE RX-7 AND EXAGGERATED ALL THE LINES AND TOOK ALL THE CREDIT!

Umm...Thats not quite right. The Viper came out in 1990, and had been designed for a few years before that, so it (and all of the planning and design) came BEFORE the 3rd gen RX-7. If anything Mazda got some idea's from Dodge...but I don't know much about that part.

How do you afford all of that while being in college. I'm in college and I can barely afford my 7.

do you know some secret to financial stability that will eventually lead to happiness and the meaning of life?

And went from Idea to show Car in about 6 months, then into production in 18 - a record that may still stand - which shows that Viper was designed AFTER 1991 while Third Gen design was FINISHED by mid 1991
