How old are you 3rd gen owners?
Hey,
I was just wondering how old most of the people are on here. I used to own a Stealth R/T Twin Turbo and the forum for that car had a lot of kids in high school and college. I'm 20 and I just bought my '93 RX-7 Touring on Monday.
I only ask because, being 20 and in college, I haven't got a lot of money and I know some of you have had to spend many thousands of dollars in repairs. I'm just praying the thing doesn't die before I graduate. Who else is relying more on hope and luck than cash?

I'm 41. My FD is one of four cars I have. I can't imagine being only 20, in college, and having an FD......
You must be having the time of your life!
Seriously, take care of it, don't thrash it, don't mod it, and it will treat you right.....it is not as if they aren't GOOD cars to start with...
Get your education and decide on your career and THEN spend your bucks on it!
Damn.....you must get ***** THROWN at you!

I'm a 20 year old collage student too. It sucks trying to save money and pay for this car at the same time, but it is well worth it. Do your car a favor and get a boost guage, down pipe, Silicone vacuum lines,Turbo timer, and a pettit AST, and ask pettit about thier free grounding kit. if you haven't already done so. after that I would ease up on the mods. until you come into cash to fix a blown motor. i.e. carreer after school. Everything above will help with reliabilty of the car, also never build boost until the motor is up to normal operating temps. and try to buy higher octane gas all the time. I run 93 everyday. You don't want any detonation, becuase you can only do that once with a rotory.. happy driving.

I am 19 and this is my 2nd one. I had one in high school and it was all stock because I didnt have any money for extras and I sold it when I went to college - came back from out of town college and got another one! This one is gonna be the one. I have ported the engine, done full exhaust, blitz BOV, blitz turbo timer, and the computer and IC are on the way. I also race SCCA road racing in a 79 rx7 - been doing that since I was 16, but go-carts before that since I was 8. I will be on a team that will be doing the Cannonball Run - Lap across America in May in a rotary powered lotus S1. You guys have to see this thing when we get done with it - it weighs 1050 from the factory without engine and we are dropping a stock 13b engine in it for the lap across america. With driver and engine and tranny - we figure about 1700 lbs and almost 200hp - WOW!! Pictures will be up soon on Rx7Heaven.com

I am 18 now... 5 months ago I purchased the car and I was 17 then. It is really hard to support the car and proceed with my life. This thing keeps sucking down money and time but I love it. I dont regret buying it one bit even thought it might have been smarter if I purchased it later on in life. If I decided to wait I am sure I would have ended up with one. The car is too much fun to miss out on. Good luck to all you guys

I'm 18 and a senior in highschool. I saved up for 4 years to by my FD. It took me almost 2 years to find my 1995 red touring model RX-7. I think it was well worth the searching and the saving. I am getting a street port and 3mm seals put on it now at RP. When it comes back, I am putting cold air, downpipe, mid-pipe presilencer, and A'pexi N1 dual exhaust. I can't wait to get my car back!!!

Damn I though 20 was gonna be fairly young for owning a FD, but DAMN I wish i had my FD when I was 16.
Red95T-Rex,
You had better add a computer to that list of goodies or your gonna be buying a new motor sooner than you think.

alright guys i feel really left out here but im only 15! Even though i feel you can never be too young to be in love with the RX-7. I have been with this board for a couple months but have kept quiet since im still learning alot. But i will have my Rex soon enough. I was soooo close in getting my parents to get me one that my uncle and i could work on (he owns his own autobody). im still looking and learning alot thanks to all the people on this board. Keep It Up!!!

I'm 21.
Damn, I wish I had my FD in high school...I bet I would've gotten more girls.
That's what I miss about high school, the girls. If only I knew then what I know now. You kids in high school need to get on the ball. Play those chicks. All of them.

24 now, but got my FD when i was 22. I could never imagine, being in high school with a FD However one of the admins. at my school had a montego 93, and i drooled over it every day it was there. Now 2 years down the road, and 17k+3k in mods, i have a Blk on Blk Rx-7. Never buy a black car, to all those who want a FD. YOU CAN'T KEEP IT CLEAN!!! CJ
