Damn, those problems are minor and I have seen a lot worse. Whomever bought that probably overpaid a little but as long as the engine and exterior are in good order then those other things can be fixed in a couple of hours including the oil pan leak.

I've seen the car in person. the engine and exterior aren't in good order, this car has been ghetto-rigged to the extreme. In my opinion it's worth maybe half what it was bought for. You can tell when these cars have been cared for over the years, and this isn't one of them, unfortunately for fd_kid7......

You're selling it?

Since you have a good mechanic working on it, you dont have to worry about more previous problems continuing.

And who did the half *** jobs?

Wow, dude that really sucks. I feel really bad for you. That had to be one of the fastest times anyone has received and gotten rid of their car, without actually crashing it.

I would also say stick it out since you do have a great mechanic working on your car, but ultimately that's your decision.

What a FRICKIN scammer the guy who sold him this car is. Funny thing is that he continues posting on this forum and is currently trying to sell stuff in the F/S section . Also funny how he doesn't have the ***** to respond to this thread. Toooooo many scammers out there nowadays and it seems like the newbies are the ones getting seriously worked.

Goodluck with the car and your decision!

While some of the modifications are half ***, the car looks pretty good to me and from what I've heard it was the fastest trapping and ET FD at rotorfest so it can't be all that bad. Now that you've had all the problems fixed it sure would be a shame to sell it and not enjoy it. It should serve as a lesson for all of us. I hope that future buyers will find this thread and keep it in mind before they purchase one of these cars.

Well, I've heard nothing but good things about your engine builder, and kan knows his stuff when it comes to tuning, so at least those two important things were handled correctly.

Edit: Oh man, he represented it as a clean title and it is actually a salvage? did you run a carfax vin check on it before buying? This story keeps getting worse.....

Well...now that you're stuck w/ the salvage title. Time to look into WHY it was given a salvage title. Whether it was due to fire damage, theft, or otherwise.

Fire is one thing,...and repairable.
Theft is another...still repairable.
Accident damage...depends.

this sucks. but why sell the car. if you wanted a car to buy and just drive an fd wasnt the best choice. they all have little problems that come up and for the most part its an easy fix just depends on the love you have for your car. if im not spending money on my car im not happy. tim (mazdatim) can second that thought. its either fix small things that come up or put money into more mods. and invest and doing it right the first time around so you dont have more problems like you had in the begining. i think i speak for the hole forum in saying we hope you stick with it and dont give up on it just yet

Please this is nothing new. That looks like most every car of people I meet off the forum. It's ususally those guys who come to me looking for help. They are almost all a mess. You should know that by now. Seemed like every new customer who would roll into PFS looked about as bad. Till we got you straight that is.

But were those cars salvage titles that had been bought for 18 grand?

I suspect the oil control rings are worn. The car makes good power but smokes excessively.

Whats the point of a car being fast when a coolant hose ruptures or something else breaks and you get stuck on the side of the road on the way home?

^^ Hehe... It becomes a question of standards at that point.

I feel for the owner. These things will get sorted but salvage title? Might want to give DMV a call and see whats up and how to address that issue.

Besides for the somking part....ehhh....I think I would try to fix the problems. I don't think that it would take that much (besides the motor). It does suck that you got screwed with the title and the ammount of money you payed for it , but you may be able to get her back up to par. My fd was is pretty bad shape when I got her. No salvage title or anythiing, but just small stupid things that needed to be fixed in order to get her purring again. Of course I only paid 11k for it, but some girl owned it before me, and just needed some TLC.

goodluck,
