fast idle

Hey,
I've been noticing my idle is fairly fast. I'm not sure if this is just something that comes with rotary engines but here goes. When i start the car cold, it'll idle about 1500-1600. Then it'll slowly creep down as the car warms up and when @ op. temp. it'll idle @ 1200. Lemme know if i'm just paranoid or if it's something that can be/needs to be fixed
thanx,
Zach

Your idle should be about 850, with all of your electrinics (stereo, fans, lights, etc.) turned off.

back out the wax rod cam adjustment screw after the car warms up , this is a guess sense Iam not there to see the car .The idle should be around 850 asJonski states. also check for a vacuum leak.

there's no vacuum leak--the engine pulls 19-21" of vacuum on idle. i'll back out that screw and see what happens.

Don't mess with the fast idle cam if you don't know how it suppose to work. I try to mess with mine and now the car buck a lot during normal temp, runs hotter, and low vacuum reading...

if my 1200RPM idle is nothing to really be worried about then im not gonna touch it. If it's a problem that could cause something else to go wrong then i'll have it fixed. But if it's just a minor flaw then im not touchin it.
