Crazy knocking sound when boosting
Crazy knocking sound when boosting
I finished pulling off my primaries and replacing the o-rings (too lazy to go get secondaries) as well as changing a couple vacuum lines. When boosting I heard a loud rattle/knock coming from the passenger of the engine bay.
After it happened I lost all boost. After RPM's dropped I had boost again. It happened every now and then. I think I probably left something loose...I have a feeling it's the CCA or y-pipe. I'll know for sure tomorrow when it's light...but if anyone has any ideas, or heard of anything like that (damn search) please do post

Uh
Ok I know your an old pro but your not talking about detonation, right? Knock from passanger side under boost? Mine did that for a couple weeks before an apex seal broke. Comes and goes, like clear warm dry days? Mine would knock the most right after transition coming out of second and third.
That's what my secondary was doing, and then they fixed some things where the turbos were. You probably left something out or didn't connect all the way or something popped off. Cause that's what was happening to mine, and it went with the turbo, it's not detonation. Sounds like bearings kind of.

YES they do, and modern science has nothing to do with it sometimes.

I had a similar problem. No secondary boost. Loud thumping sound on attempted boost over 4500 rpm.
I had a vacuum line come off. It was behind the little black pressure chamber (in front of the intake manifold). Pull off the pressure chamber, and check the vacuum lines behind. Maybe you will get lucky, and not have a real problem.
