96 rx7 no start

Trying to figure this out. Going to check spark and fuel today, but wanted to get an early opinion if this sounds like it has compression or not. I just picked this up yesterday so haven't had a chance to get into it too much yet.

sounds normal. If you're not able to check compression just pull the leading plugs one at a time, have someone crank it and listen for three relatively even pulses per rotor.

you bought a strange car that wouldn't even start?

Tracked it down to no power to fuel pump. Checked opening circuit, good. Checked resistor, has power when FP and GND jumped. Going to check resistance in a minute. But I need to find that damn relay inside the car. It's a JDM RX7 so it's RHD. Any quick help?

So with FP and GND jumped I got power. Without I don't. I'm only one person checking this, so does the FP only power on for a few seconds at key on? And does it only power after that during cranking? May be why I'm chasing nothing...

This is what came out of the fuel line when I disconnected it and ran the fuel pump. Holy crap. I think I need a new fuel filter and pump. I will take out the filter and turn the pump on and see if I get any pressure, if not I will replace pump as well. I think this 'may' be my entire problem. This thing must have been sitting down for a while.

I can't find the fuel filter?

Tank at bottom, lines on right.

Lines coming over rear support, into I think? the charcoal canister. Then exiting at the top.

I do NOT see the fuel filter. Any help?

Nevermind, found it. Literally tucked up above the differential. Such a pita to get out too.

I think he mentions it in the link below, but an inexpensive set of hose clamps like these 3 Piece Line Clamp Set make it a lot easier and you don't have to pull the EGI until the car dies to relieve fuel pressure. I just open the filler cap.

Differential side seals look like they might be starting to go. When you get it running and on top of things it might be something to watch. Check differential gear oil level. If it comes to it, it's not really a bad job and the seals aren't expensive....

I can probably find the pictures again if needed.... https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-seals-517073/

Yeah, probably about as easy as a miata. I noticed there are a few bolts missing from bracing as well, will have to get some replacements before she goes on the road. A lot of things in the engine compartment are also missing bolts. Seems like whoever had it before I did was not very organized.

But so far I think I may have found the issue.
