OEM. When they fail, it's typically not the seal's fault.

Mahjik,,,i never got a reply to this question before, but if its not the seals fault then its something else, what? (warped housing),, when i purchased the car it had been overheated and suspected coolant seal failure i rebuilt the entire engine and the motor has been running fine for 4 years. (also have you heard that mazda once produced some special sheilds that went into the engine along with the coolant o rings for extra protection,, you know where i can get these?)

OEM or Pineapple. Everything else I have used doesn't fit well. While the oem seals work, it annoys me as to how fragile they are. I have seen them come from mazda split.

Typically you have an overheated engine with warped housings, or corrosion in the cooling system, or just a plain "oops" during the rebuild of pinching an o-ring.

The only thing i cant figure out is if the housings are warped why did the engine last 4 years,, you would think it would only last a week?? Im taking it you cant machine the housing at all due to tolerances for the seals?. So do i need to buy new housings because im thinking of just throwing in some new seals (possibly pineapple upgraded ones) and seeeing if i can get maybe 5 more years lol?

Tear the motor down and spec the rotor housings for warpage. also visually inspect the rotor housings for pitting and the irons for any broken pieces around the coolant o-ring land.
