Long time lurker! Just recently posting. We're digging into our 93 FD very soon so I am sure I'll have many more questions for you guys.
Have you seen anything like this? It's attached to only the main positive and negative battery terminals. It was zip tied up along an awful spider ground system. Just want to see what it is. JDM car if that helps. There is what appears to be a "D" with a lightning bolt through it but no other markings.
I could see this being a possibility. The owner from Japan had a super intense Mitsubishi satellite tv/radio setup with like 8 antennas +receiver and a whole bunch of other things.
It looks like a bypass electrolytic capacitor intended to suppress ignition noise.
More commonly, you see inline suppressors that have a 3rd wire that runs only to the radio head unit or other component and supplies it with "filtered" juice. This 2-wire unit appears to be wired to suppress ignition noise from getting to the entire vehicle.
Be careful - it can hold a big charge for a long time.

Really, it's most likely a capacitor as stated. There were tons of these grounding kits/capacitor deals back in the day and they were super popular in Japan - supposed to increase power, smooth idle, blah blah blah.
There is something to be said for good grounds but that cap is just snake oil.
