We combined our 2023 Sevens Day with a VCMC AutoX event. Event was a success despite the heat. Most cars had left by the time the AutoX course was cleared, so we only managed a smaller scale group shot.

Wind cleared out the forest fire smoke for one afternoon letting Mt. Baker stand proud.

Made it to a local meet and was surprised to see so many cars stick it out in the rain. Drove the FD in its first to me Florida monsoon rain storm and it rained the whole time at the meet. Still around 400 cars showed up.

Sure looks like it with the lighting and water doesnt it? I've always wanted pearl white but would be the very last thing I did to the car if i do paint it. The CW paint is still in very good shape. I plan to paint correct and ceramic coat when I can find some time.

Crossed the border to visit J and pick up the rear bins I bought on here from @books Got a preview of J's nearly completed LTO kit. Fitting end to the last few days watching Akira Nakai do his work at our local tuner shop.

Waiting four years for the day.

After being thronged at the local Porsche dealer the day before, a chance for Nakai-san to work in peace.

Zen-like concentration ........

Have trim kit, will travel.......

Just back from the initial spin around the block.......without a doubt a work of art.

The goal, or something completely different.

@Angie King

BC Baker Cruise

Last Saturday, got a few of us out for a cruise up to the Mt.Baker Ski Area (and beyond). Off season meant open roads and we got to cruise the best sections without being hung up by local traffic.

Section from Maple Falls to Mt. Baker had the "tail of the dragon" vibe. Undulations in the road gave the suspension a work out but without bottoming out.

In summer a road goes beyond the ski lifts to a high mountain viewing area (see dotted line on above map). The road is carved out of steep slopes with no shoulder or guard barriers (gulp!). A "Kyber Pass" feel to it. We left the peak likely 30 minutes before the first blizzard of the year.

The legacy of the FD as a Mazda halo car is evident in this Mazda 3

Made it out to another meet tonight, last one for a while because we will be helping with Subiefest Daytona next weekend and are pretty busy the rest of the month. Got the wife to bring out her 240 again. Had a pretty good mix of cars.

A good friend of mine's recent build. Paint on this is amazing in person

he was asking who owns the car, came over to talk to us right after this. I was standing right next to the owner. Guy was a bit odd. Claimed to be some big wig in the street racing scene for the past 40 years and wanted to know who he could have rebuild his engine for his FB.

Have been an RX-7 fanatic for over half my life, just bought my first FD this week!!! Nothing big planned yet, but figured I would check in.

Once my 13B-REW FB is all finished up, we will get down to business on the FD!

Cheers,
Alex

BC Hunt for Red October

Took a run out the Old Dewdney Trunk HIghway to Ruskin Dam and on to Mission via Keystone Road.

100 year old Ruskin Dam. How long is that earthquake overdue? We traded drivers seats today. First time I have driven LHD. Odd sensation!

Not too late to get some colour. Trees gave up early this year due to drought. Good thing we got a dam!

Western Red Cedar gets a hug. They don't grow them this big in Texas.

Fresh from the dyno, JW has his 1996 Version 4 in fine form ready for first run.

325whp is all you need to break the wheels loose! Big scramble yesterday morning to find a replacement for that alternator.
Battle scares already.

What's this?

Fish tacos right on time and on theme. Makes for a complete cruise (imo).

Better check out the origins of the kit before switching out.

Sideskirts might be Mazdaspeed (or a replica)..

Might find a ready taker for those as shipping big kit pieces from Japan individually is very expensive.

[The auction papers, if you have them, might state the maker of he kit pieces.]

Kit might be "To Bounds Aero Style". A fairly obscure brand (and likely quite rare).

The sideskirts do look a lot like Mazdaspeed A Spec GT-C

You might consider emulating the 2000 (Oct) Type RZ which was/is a very limited edition limited edition, and the direct predecessor of the 2002 Spirit R.

The guy that I brought it off knew little about it, I've been trying to work out what the kit is, I wanted to go feed in terms of styling

Good intel. I wonder why it is presented that way. Maybe the R-magic sticker reads "Jo Bounds", an obscure sub-brand.

Meanwhile, is "RE Wing" a sub-brand of RE-Amemiya or something separate?
