I believe this is the first FD offered on Bring a Trailer since the $70k car.

I’ll be curious to see what this one brings after a kind of long drought. My guess is $40/$35 (compression results/no compression results).

Whoever it is, they are a pretty lame seller. Took the time to create some very professional photos, but couldn't clay bar the car or clean up lint and dust on the interior and engine shots? Lazy.... If I were a buyer, it would translate to my opinion of how the car was likely maintained or serviced. Just say'in...

Not an RX7 so feel free to delete; but I thought it was interesting to see a car with a modified body (Porsche), especially one showing all the rivets, fetching so much money.
So there may be value in modified RX7s as well as stock. It is is also interesting that in the comments people are questioning why modified Porsche’s are fetching big $$$ but modified Japanese cars are not. I have no idea.

Well RWB has spent years establishing itself as a brand, and frankly I think they've done a damn good job, so a large portion of the ascribed value comes from that. I think the closest thing in the RX7 world would be a car that was built by RE-A themselves as opposed to someone building their own car using RE-A parts.

That makes sense, I appreciate your input. The body kit on my FD was installed by FEED at their shop in Japan and I also have a photo of the car with the legendary Fujita-san himself......not sure how much it counts for with regards to value, but I really enjoy knowing I have something special as it went through his garage! 😁

Digressing back to RWB real quick - there are two extremely smart things that they do, brand wise. One, they don't sell their bodywork; all kits are installed by Nakai of RWB. Two, a unique name is given to each car.

Very cool! I think those facts would contribute mightily to the value of your car if you elected to sell it. Of course it would still take a buyer that was familiar with and valued the FEED brand. But if you were to put your RX7 next to another RX7 with the same FEED kit, only that one was not installed by FEED, yours is more valuable every time.
I am fortunate that my car is currently the only one built at the FEED shop with this kit in North America. But considering there are only two over here, the odds were in my favour

Windshield 400
Dents, paint work, clean up etc.... 2000
Tires 800
Probably needs another 2k in general maintenance. I get the vibe this was a barn find flip. The dude should have worked a little harder or simply let it go. 26,500 was fair IMO.
This one will sell for 30 or so and it's 93 VR/tan with more miles. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mazda-rx-7-74/
The market could be cooling a bit as we've had a really big price run up the last 2 years.

So I posted my 58k clean mostly stock 1995 montego blue car for sale here on rx7club asking for $24k https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ly-mi-1136971/ . I bought it for $20,500 in March 2017 off bring a trailer (really more like $21k with fees) and put thousands in it on mostly OEM parts. I've decided to sell due to not driving it enough.
I'm pretty reluctant to do bring a trailer as a seller because it seems like hassle from what my one friend did, plus BaT decides the reserve I think. I'll probably put the car on Autotrader in a few days. But I'm wondering if I should change my mind on BaT. I've never been very patient when it comes to selling cars. I'd like this car gone in a couple weeks.
The car in the BaT auction above not going for $26k makes me wonder if my $24k asking price is too high.

IMO BAT is THE BEST place to sell an old collector sports car. The peanut gallery will trip out when you mention the oil usage but the honesty, maint etc.... will be rewarded by the real buyers. If you can't unload for 20k or whatever you are comfortable with the reserve being then don't list it on BAT and move on to autotrader, craigslist, fb etc....

I'll find out in a month or two since I plan on listing one of my rides. If you request the reserve to be set at $8k because you're hoping to get $12k and BAT suggests you set the reserve at $6K, if you're confident in the quality of your car and presentation, why not just list it at no reserve. Does anyone know how they "suggest" setting reserve pricing? Maybe something hypothetically like 70 percent of the "average" sale price for that particular car over the past 3-5 years of sales? Just curious to know if anyone has had direct conversations with them...

I'd take my 100% garaged 160k mile FD over it any day of the week. Definitely not worth the $13-16k he was thinking.
Might make a nice track car build, but it just needs too much to be brought back to stock.

Went and looked at it yesterday... the poor thing is done for. 18,400 miles. Original owner. 25 years old and it's been sitting in the direct sun, undriven the whole time. South facing parking spot and no cover so it never got a break. Paint, headlight covers, all the rubber trim, dash, gauge hood, seats, interior plastics, exhaust, brakes... all shot. And that's just what I could see without starting it.
I'd take my 100% garaged 160k mile FD over it any day of the week. Definitely not worth the $13-16k he was thinking.
