The engine bay looks like dog crap. And in the end, I believe that is going to cost him at least a couple of grand in the sell price. Seriously why wouldn't the guy spend a few hours cleaning it up? Presentation is key.

When I'm looking at a car, the engine bay is the first and most important visual clue as to its condition.

Most owners aren't good mechanics or view the engine bay the same way I do. Paint and interior are far more expensive to fix then cleaning/restoring the engine bay. There will always be a plethora of engine bay parts to be had for these cars since most engine bays have been gone through multiple times at this point. If the interior and exterior are clean I can restore the rest for a reasonable dollar amount.

With all that said the market has changed. I believe this car will approach higher up to the $16-18k range as there really arent many if any decent running FDs under that price point for sale right now.

Exactly. In my experience car owners who take care of their engine bay are meticulous about the rest of the car.

You know I agree with you that paint and interior are the most expensive things to do on this or any car. However, while I look at the paint and interior, the deciding factor for me can be the engine bay. It isn't the cost, as Elliott points out. Its that when someone keeps their engine bay really clean, they always seem to keep the rest of the car clean and adhere to proper maintenance. Its a sign of healthy OCD.

New listing on Craigslist in Bend Oregon. 6593 original miles on a '93 touring. Asking $59K. Makes sense I guess, since marijuana is legal in Oregon....

Lol maybe the MJ was laced with something.

But I have to note: The car has less than 7k miles and it has a missing battery cover? wtf...

Just for grins on the new VR in Oregon. If he bought it 10 years ago for $10,000 and sells it for $60,000, that's a 22% internal rate of return for the 10 years and that's waaaay better than you can do in any financial market..

Still on the original tires?! He seems to think that's a good thing... Jesus, that's gotta be a sketchy drive!

I wondered the same thing. The Red on Tan is very unappealing to me as well.

I love your optimism.

Here's the other side of the coin. He bought it for 35 including taxes, tags and title. He's been paying personal property tax for 25 years (if he lives in VA), he's been insuring it, maintaining it and storing it. Even if he sells it for 60k (i think 45 would be a job/tan does matter) he'll likely lose money.

With that said he could have bought an RS 911 and made some money or a corvette or a mustang and lost some money LOL

The stock market is still your best over all bet or it's much easier to pick a hot/good stock versus a future collectable car. Remember when apple was in the 90s back in 2016 and trading at 12 times earnings........EASY MONEY! Like always I sold too soon though

10 years ago that was still a $25k FD at its lowest point.

Well, its definitely a new market. To me that was a $13-14k FD tops. I wouldn't personally want one with over 100k miles but I understand the market has obviously changed.

Amp is the pricing guru this week at 18k

Add 5% 18,900

Someone just paid 19k for an FD with a decent dent in the passenger quarter panel, 135k miles, faded paint, 93 interior that will need to be gutted and replaced for the most part blah blah blah.

Lovin this crazy FD market

I agree on the pricing. That's a rough car in my book. It is really interesting to see where this market has gone/is going!

So it has been sitting forever with price drops every few months all the way down to $43k I believe.

So now it seems like a good time to increase back up to $50k ?

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...modelCode1=RX7

Out of curiosity - does anyone know the story behind it being "sold" on 1/8/18 to the 3rd owner but still for sale with the same dealership ?

Probably because the dealer had to register it? If thats how it works? Im not sure. I know most flippers would rather turn around and flip quick so the registered owner of the car stays a low count. Because that's more valuable?

LOL....

On a serious note someone got a decent deal on that one when comparing it to some of these BAT cars.

And yet ANOTHER red over black FD, but this time it's a 1994! So different! Looks stock and pretty clean (how come no one keeps their battery cover?). Let the bid guessing begin!

I'll start: $28,000

"An oil change was performed in 2017 by the selling dealer along with an inspection, including of the apex seals." Um... what?

"This FD3 is offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a clean 2015 Carfax, recent service records, and a clear Illinois title." But it's 2018. Are they really too cheap to purchase a new CarFax?

Seems fishy. Beautiful looking car though.
