if your business cannot withstand a 0.25% change in the interest rate you were probably doomed anyways.
It's not the business it's that dude trying to buy a house, car etc... to the support the business/ford/mazda, he's the one hanging on by a very VERY thin thread LOL

The businesses borrow that money at great rates to buy back their ever inflating stock, build apartments or pay dividends etc... the sh#t that is going on is stupid.

BC Miss Title

I think we should change it back to $25k from $35k, otherwise much of he earlier posts to the thread don't make sense.

Probably a good point and in reality it's still true for your typical stock/lightly modded FD with 50k miles or more.

I'll start a new thread titled "Why you should price your low mileage FD at 35k or more" LOL

On a side note: I appreciate the seller's honesty:

Everything works but wipers are slow and the wiper arms are faded, rear wiper was removed (filled & painted), AC blows but isn't cold and needs a re-charge. Cruise control is intermittent. Sony head unit is garbage and I'd recommend something different.

Those are things that I already assumed to be on any FD!

Whenever I write an ad for an FD for sale, I mention the givens...map pocket broken, center console tab broken, ac ***** turn funny, leaks a bit of oil, etc.

Here is an interesting story on Studabaker Avantis...

Up until last year the price of 1963 Avanti R2s has been slowly climbing over the years from $25-30k to $35-40k. Pegged as a potential blue-chip collectible almost since it went out of production more than 50 years ago, the Avanti previously had not taken off as a collectible. This year a 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 sold for a record $127,000 at Mecum Auctions. Well, say goodbye to $35k cars, it's a whole new ballgame in Avanti prices.

Know of any other low production car many people peg as a potential future blue chip collectible? Let's just hope it doesn't take 50 years!

Those are hideous, the few old people that care about them will be dead soon, and the car will die with them. Sometimes it just takes two idiots in the room to keep out bidding each other. People haven't seen one in ages so they keep bidding, and when that sale price gets around, a ton of the cars will start popping out of the woodwork. It's kind of like the Cosmo. One sold for big money, it was clean, and now everyone wants to sell what was previously rotting garbage in Japan for big bucks here in the states...but once the few high rollers get theirs, no one is left to pay big money.

I assume there is some sarcasm there, but have you ever tried to talk to an Avanti owner at a cruise night? Weird. Anyway, don't listen to me, I'm just someone on the internet. Buy now while the market is low! Look at the potential, you could clear 100 g's in a few years.

There will always be a market for unique ugly cars. Think pacer.

Even worse it was a 93 LOL

Yep if it was 94 in BB it would have easily sold for 27k plus.

The market is definitely HOT!!!

I think it's fair to say that the selling prices of good FDs is 5 to 10k higher than it was 2 years ago and will likely be 10k higher in the next few years especially if we see dow 30k.

This looks like a decent car if the repaint is high quality and it wasn't for a good reason: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...modelCode1=RX7

Post up the link but I'm guessing it's likely similar to this listing: https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...ationFlag=true

In other words a parts car.

Easily 35k and you'd sell it fast. Possibly 40k slow sale.

It was a '93 actually. I think that one would've gone higher if the seller had posted some compression numbers that proved the engine was in good shape. No numbers were provided, and at 51k miles and 24 years of age, most people would be afraid that the engine is due for a rebuild. Had it been VR or BB, I think the price could've gone closer to $25,000, but for $30,000, it would've have to have been CW.

car values

Unless the car is exceptional and a real motivated buyer sees it, it is difficult to get top dollar. My 1993 FD has $100K of aftermarket parts added to the $15K purchase price in 1999 and I would be lucky to get $30K for it. Same for my 1968 Corvette convertible. Purchased two years ago for $25K and I have over $50K in parts added. I might get $35K for it, since that is the Hagerty insurance value for it- especially since it is a convert, big block and bright red. About the only people who make money selling classic cars are the auction companies.
