How to value your FD
I am back. And to gloat. Ssm did 40k. I don’t know what to tell you guys. When a cym goes for 60k and soon. Then you win. Until you keep losing
and dj. Yes I am offended. I don’t like the way you speak to others. This is a hobby for us all. And yes we passionate about it. But we come here for fun. When I am being attacked personally it starts to not feel like fun.
Again. U want to poke fun. Call Matty blind. Things like that Fine. But you seem to make it about ego and I don’t want to do that. So look. Be direct. That is fine. Just don’t be a jerk. And this is the last time I will mention that.
Anyways. Oh yeah. About ego. I win again.

CYM with 38k miles sell for $37,300. A SSM with 12k miles only outsells by $2700.00, and you are saying CYM isn’t much more valuable? Please link me to a 93 touring with 35k+ miles that sold for a similar price to the CYM, just one. No deflecting, just do it.

Never has someone taking so many L’s yet Believe they are undefeated. Let me see if I follow your thinking on this, I’ll try not to be condescending but understand it’s difficult at this point.

There is nothing to talk about. I think color matters but not nearly as much as you. Time will tell. I don’t see one selling for 60k. I think you do???? Unsure.

U know my original argument about color has sort of got lost here. I do think a cw and cyw could do a bit better in price than a vr or silver. I just don’t think it’s an incredibly material difference. And I think given that auctions are so random most of the value gap will likely get noised out due to characteristics of what auctions are. Who shows up. How well presented and etc. I also went on to explain how liquidity plays a role. So again a cw or cym if we had these cars trading more would establish a trend of slightly higher value. But they don’t trade a lot. So it’s null. I think it will be smaller than most think . And I definitely don’t think anyone is paying 60k for a cym tomorrow. Color may matter but it matters far less to bat than it does Rx7club. That is my point. Different type of players. I don’t see how one can take issue with that. It appears FRITZ is coming around to the fact that the bat market and club market are different. But dj doesn’t.
I just think more attention should be spent thinking about how liquidity will impact prices of the Fd. You can’t compare them to m3 or 911. There, color will make a huge difference Bc there are so many trades. I think my argument is based more on how markets function rather than the Fd itself. But I do stand by thoughts on the Fd market.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I think you are letting some random sales on BAT convince you that nothing matters other than mileage, condition and presentation which are all important but the obvious differences of color, interior, model and year hold value and in 10 years you'll see just how important owning a low mileage R2 vs a 93 touring is.
The Rx7 is the top car in the current Hagerty Top 25 ratings.

Have to say I agree! This is an interesting discussion, but if I were to buy one of these low mileage, "still in the wrapper" FD's, I'd drive it. In some ways that doesn't make sense, I know. Why not just buy one with say, 40ish K miles? But driving it 5-6K miles per year would be great fun, and the FD would likely not depreciate any more quickly than buying a contemporary Porsche, for instance. As you can tell, with this attitude, I'm no collector

Drove my low mileage VR R2 into work today
It's one of my favorites to drive and the only mods are PFS springs, sways, radio and boost gauge. Since 1st seeing the FD I've yet to see another sports car that gave me an equal emotional/loving feeling which is the main reason it's currently one of the cars on the car collector's shopping list.

However if and when there's a new car that turns me on as much as the FD (light weight, amazing looking and fun to drive) I'm buying it hehe.

two, i also find the FD the most fun when its nearly stock. stock with a DP is a hoot!
three; check out the ND miata, it feels like the FD when you sit in it.
Ford's going out of business plan does have its own wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_Forward
FWIW, my SSM Touring 56k mile V8-swap FD, probably one of the cleanest swapped FDs you will find, is insured through Hagerty with a no-questions replacement value of 35k, so they are sticking their neck out and recognizing the value even on the swapped cars... JJ Best will finance off of the Hagerty appraised value with 10% down.

.
Looks to me that they just "restructured" everything in 2005-2009:

The car to argue about this week? How about a VR over tan '93 with 17k miles and bone stock (even has the battery cover!) - except for a Racing Beat cat-back.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mazda-rx-7-49/
Looks pretty good for the mileage. And since the seller has included compression results (and they look strong), I'll guess: $37,500.

With those (few) flaws, tan interior and winter coming, I'd guess low 30's, maybe $33K.

Some rust and few little things; windshield replaced, faded paint etc.... but overall not too bad and should sell for low to mid 30s. In other words should make for a fun driver without worrying too much about beating up a collector.
I'm betting the check engine is the EGR. Pop in a PFC and solve that along with 10 other problems
I'll say 29k, reducing from 32k. Just looked at pics closer and this one has seen a little too much day light and road salt.
Mileage is likely legit. All the black plastic stuff will faded considerably so nothing weird about the lip.

If it were a better time of the year for selling a car, it would go for more. I'll guess $34K.
I'm getting sick and tired of seeing Red FD's for sale. I hate Red. No wonder people want to get rid of them.

Actually, if the lip was all shiny and black I'd be suspicious. As it wouldn't match the mirrors. .
