Yup, politics is poison alright...... I'll see if I can find a mod to come in and clean things up a bit
I've thought about selling my 1200 mile Montego Blue FD but I recently bolted on a few Mazdaspeed parts and took it for a spin today. Think I'll hang onto her for a while longer
One thing for sure is the FD is very hot right now. Not only do i say that because of the obvious price increase but lately I've been buying some goodies for my car and since I'm old school, i pick up the phone and talk to folks. It seems that now more than ever people are more complementary, and/or they tell me they want one, and some offer to straight out buy it off me.
Just something I've noticed lately and it makes me wonder where these prices are going to top off at.
Would Mazda still honour the recall? If someone found out that the correcting mod had never been done?
they would, yes. except the coolant recall, that one got cancelled for some reason. (i have them on paper)
it would be interesting to come up with a concourse judging sheet for the FD, because the recalls and updates need to be ok, and there are a lot of changes for even the US cars, 93-95
My recent appraisal came out at 3A purportedly based on internationally accepted standards. 3A is apparently the top rank of "Very Good" , the next notch being "2C" the lowest rank of Excellent.
Appraisal came out at approximately the Canadian equivalent of the US$ amount of the of the title amount of this thread. or roughly mid -second quartile (from bottom) of BAT and $8,000~12,000 over recently achieved auction prices in Japan for V5 Type RB (SE). Also it was in line with very close VIN number examples sold in our local market very recently. (But roughly A$10~15,000 below recent Australia market examples.)
It is good to have your car appraised on a beautiful warm breezy summery car cruisin kind of day. But not so advantage to have the appraiser show up two days and two hours early, while you still have the car on jackstands and the tires have that down on the farm look.
Not to mention that two days after the inspection I t-boned an imprudent S15 whose four wheel steering microchip suffered from some sort of space laser attack. (my theory)
Fortunately I largely hit his rear wheel at very low speed and and no internal damage is apparent. As a result the one area that the appraiser cited for some paint flaws will now be completed replaced with OEM factory bumper skin with new paint and clearcoat.

Reason: added info.

Yep, brought my car to the local Cars and Coffee last week for the first time after several years of ownership and people were all over it. Had two offers just while I was near the car. Spent most of my time away looking at the other 1,000+ cars there. Car received way more attention than I expected.
He's also completely misinformed & naïve. Every half-educated person knows that crony-capitalism & socialism are entirely the work of the left. Of course the spineless RINOs can be counted as part of that evil & idiotic group.
Twincharged RX7, can you name one city or state in the U.S. where your precious socialism has worked?

Watch out. Here comes the brainpower. Way to twist words like Fox News. Never did I mention socialism or anything of the like. I said the extremes of both sides have created a messed up system. Gordon blaming current economic issues on the first 3 months of a presidency is what's naive and misinformed.
But since you claim to be more than "half educated" (whatever that is) but are asking me for examples. Why don't you provide your own. Oh right, you can't because you are the typical biased person with no data that regurgitates the side of the media you most align with. Not everything boils down to red vs blue states, and most states have populations of both, you must just watch too much cable news.
I agree with the others. Don't bring politics into this thread. It's 100% pointless. But go ahead and make another generalized point with no data to support it like I know you will.
Who's the angry man now? Gas prices went up. Oh no. Like it hasn't happened a million times before. But sure, blame it on the last 3 months and not the decades of oil companies and governments controlling every little piece of it.
And don't get me started on conservatives not having a voice. I find it hilarious when one goes on national TV and complains about being sensored due to their views, then follows up on Twitter and Facebook to their millions of followers. Apparently they like to look past the many examples of real oppression.
Hey guys—tensions are high. I get it. It has been a crazy past few years.
Know what’s awesome? We have this shared passion for these incredible cars.
What I love most about this hobby is that we can check our biases, opinions, and experiences from the world at the door. I have made some great friends through these cars…AND we aren’t all on the same page politically. We need to get back to seeing each other for the enthusiasts and human beings that we are. Life is too short!
Ok. I can get with that. I have an FD in paint right now.
Will it sell for $60k when it's done? Let's find out.
Low miles? Probably!
People don’t seem to mind repainted cars. They’re getting so old that even meticulously maintained ones (that were actually driven) will have enough blemishes that would justify a repaint.
It's a 93 touring with 60k miles. Tan interior will be changed out for black. New engine. All new suspension bushings, brakes, ohlins coil overs. Will be sequential twins with all the reliability mods.
Paint will be similar to montego blue. Won't be a stock collector car.

Sounds like it will be an incredible car! Looking forward to it.
Looks like the makings of a quality build.
What's the going price in your area for a quality repaint?
Way more than I wanted. It will be over $10k. And that's with me having done the full tear down. They are painting the engine bay as well. I can't stand seeing a good paint job and then a different color engine bay. It's at a place that does restorations, not just a collision center, so the labor prices are a bit higher. I'm sure there were cheaper options but I don't have to worry about anything at this place.
I also got some new headlight covers from Ray. So that should be good for 10 years or so.

The good news is that, with the way values are going, you are likely to recoup the cost of paint when you sell the car. There is no substitute for a quality paint job. Should be a beaut!

That's what I figured. My repaint (MB to BB) was $9K four years ago. Took roller to painter and all panels painted off car.
