How to value your FD

That fleeting glimpse.
First time I saw an FD was in 1994 on the Granville Strip in Vancouver. The strip is about 10 blocks long and has/had one of the greatest concentrations of old style, three story tall, tubular neon signs. It was dark and the neon signs reflected in myriad ways as the BB slid by. It truly looked like Batman was out on the town. The thing is, on a daily basis , I get the same looks of awe, that I made then, as I drive about in town.
Now ,as then, the contrast to the regular crowd of cars, makes the FD really stand out.

Continuing with the OT discussion on interior plastics, there's a '93 Supra on BaT that's about to close (white auto). The interior plastics are pretty trashed on this one, so maybe they weren't all that much better than the FD after all!

My 1st time was actually in the tyson corner area. We were walking through the Ritz's Carlton parking garage on our way to a 3 on 3 b ball tournament when I saw my 1st in person. I remember saying I'll own one of these cars no matter what, it completely blew me away like no car I'd ever seen.

It was in your subconscious though. Look at various Italian sport coupes of the 1950's and early '60s.
Particularly the 1953/1954 Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta (Pininfarina).
A few years ago 1960's OSCA came up for auction (reported in Sports Car Markets).
The backstory was that it was designed by the Maserati Brothers (they had sold the rights to the Maserati name) and the car had been acquired by Mazda and used in their design training.
Particularly the 1953/1954 Maserati A6GCS Berlinetta (Pininfarina).

The FD incorporates lots of great looking car qualities, even some old jaq stuff. It's just a super cool design with tremendous flow from front to back, even the overall size is perfection.

Will be interesting to see the final bill. I don't have hope for that car in the future, cars that heavily modified don't do well with the subsequent owner. They either a) end up in a ditch, b) have some weird problem the owner can't figure out and get sold at a loss/parted out, c) end up with weird problem and sit for years and eventually end up in a junkyard.
I understand him selling the car, he seems like he enjoys the journey of getting there more than the end result. Also that car has to be exhausting to drive around.

So I have to ask you guys what your thoughts are on the current EPA position with all the after market and emissions and how it will affect our rotary vehicles price. I am back and forth on it. Not sure what to expect for the future.

They aren't going to take away a car that's 25+ years old and modified 10 years ago. They are mainly focused on newer cars.
And deleting emissions equipment has been illegal in most places for decades now. So nothing really new.
Recommend you have a cat in your mid pipe just in case haha.

I am in FL also, but that didn't stop them from nailing some diesel tuners down here.

I think the car is an amazing tour de force of what can be done with a rotary and it's also a testament to the hard work he put into it - he built that car in record time and did a great job with it. But, at the end of the day, it's about like keeping a pet tiger or something - super cool but it will literally kill you and **** off the neighbors
I seriously am curious about who buys it - that's a LOT of money to spend on a car that doesn't have a prancing horse on the side. I think he has it priced reasonably - it's a one of a kind Youtube star car and it's worth good money, but I hope it ends up with someone that can do something with the car and not someone who is going to run it into a ditch or kill themselves.

I wonder if he's really trying to sell it. Reserve still not met at $170k. Amazing amount of work and money in this car. An in your face sema build is not my taste, but what an epic display of what a modern 11/10s rotary can be. If David really is willing to let it go, I'm betting the reserve is $200 or 250k.

I'm betting reserve at $200k. Lots of action on the bidding, though.
Most of the action on Ebay bids happens in the last few minutes. Still has 7 days to go, plenty of time for it to rack up a big tab.
