I feel like that would've brought more on BaT being a 94 BB with lower mileage. Still pretty good money.

If there are 6000 FD remaining in North America with an average value of US$25,000 that's $150,000,000 of FD. If this sale just increased the value of the FD fleet by, say, 40%, that would be an increase of FD owner Net Worth by $60,000,000.

That before actions to improve their vehicles for higher sales value.

This sounds like a market for serious players to make key replacements parts (i.e. LHD stock look interior trim).

Yes, it motivated me to finally bump up the agreed value on my collector car policy, and I'm still under-insured!

I will admit that $46,500 raised my eyebrow.

Agreed and a touring to boot. This is just another example showing that conventional forum wisdom does not necessarily translate to the general/collector population.

Folks who made a killing in the market in 2020 has a lot of money to throw around, they'll shop like us at a grocery store... don't look at price tag lol.

Results on that MB really surprised me. This market is insane.

This latest listing is presented very well. The repaint decision is interesting but it does look good so I'm very interested to see what it pulls.

Yep.. The collector market has always been a rich man's game. Others can certainly come and stay for a bit but they are mere tourists who eventually go home. Just a few years ago we still had forum members fight tooth and nail that the FD would never be a collector because of reliability. They just didn't understand that mindset simply didn't apply to someone with disposable income who only cares about having an FD in their garage to occasionally drive or show off.

I'll leave it to someone else to differentiate collector from second or third car owner but when a new RAV4 costs $40k an FD around the same price doesn't seem particularly expensive.

Nothing like a 40k RAV4 on an 8 year auto loan. Strange days we live in.

You both make excellent points. Our pride and joy FDs only being worth a new crossover makes me sad, but at the same time, I don't have any payments on it, or on any other vehicles in my household, and it is sure to appreciate. Unlike that neighbor who has the same income as you, who just bought an $83k f250 with a 96 month loan just to haul sunshine. People have been getting ballsy in the last few years. These low interest rates may stick around for a while, but the dollar is getting so weak...

How much does the RAV4 worth when you sign the dot dot line and drive it out the lot

Feds won't raise interest rate till at least 2023, we'll see how things hold up in a couple years when the real correction begin.

Don't be sad. Just remember how much a decent FDs were going for 10 years ago. Plus IMO prices will continue to rise as long as there are people who a feel that it is not expensive for a 30 year old car with 35K miles to sell for as much as a brand new vehicle.
