93 FD will not start
I know, I know. "Search the archives a**hole!" I get it. But I cannot find my particular problem as my car intermittently will not crank. The times it does crank it starts and runs very well. The times it will not crank the key turns, the switch makes contact as the radio and accessories turn off prepared to crank but starter will not click or turn. Classic starter problem. But I just put in a new starter and new set of clutch safety switches.
The curious part is that when it refused to crank, I put it in second gear and push a little to bump the motor and so far it has worked every time.
Love to hear ideas.

You probably need a starter relay -
High Torque 2KW Starter (93+ RX-7)
It does sound like you have the click-click-start problem. Get that relay, 10 minute install, and you won't have the problem again.

Search starter booster or make one , check the clutch switch behind the pedal or bypass it. These are cheap and the easy way to start eliminating components that are involved . I made my starter booster and that's what fixed my intermittent starting issue I had awhile back.

Well the starter booster did NOT fix my problem. We had done starter, cables and relay. We replaced the clutch safety switch and even jumped it out of the loop. Each time it worked a few days and reverted to turning on ignition but refusing to crank.
Then I replaced the switch on the back of the ignition switch. It is now doing well. I can only surmise that the old contact for the starter was intermittent.
I am not sure this gremlin was not responsible for the bargain price on a n all original 93 FD with 30k miles. If it screws up again I am taking it in for exorcism.
