new FD trunk cargo net!

So for years I have been reluctant to use the OEM Mazda trunk luggage strap because I didn't want to cut a hole in my trunk carpet (according to the official instructions in step 9, you have to cut a small hole for one of the brackets).

Here is an image of my "brand new" Mazda OEM luggage strap, been keeping it in storage for almost a decade now. And judging by the looks of it, it doesn't seem like it would hold anything quite well (other than maybe a properly sized suitcase)...and the blue color doesn't really match by SSM and red interior combo...

So...

Yesterday on Facebook I see JP3 is apparently going to start offering them for sale, looks more OEM than the OEM one I have...and I'm happy its not blue and it looks like it will actually hold things in place...and I can keep my carpet uncut. What do you guys think? Is this the solution to saving our trunk plastics from getting scratched by random things rolling around?

I like it. I'm all for product development for a car that is long past peak ownership. Makes me feel like the community is still alive and cares. This is great, i hope JP3 keeps innovating, I'll keep buying lol.

I'm willing to test one out on the Tail of the Dragon at next year's Deals Gap Rotary Rally...... if the stuff stays in place on the Dragon, you can pretty much blast off to the moon with it

It seems like a support bracket to make the mounting location a bit more sturdy. Its the same mounting spot where the plastic trims attach as well, so maybe they added the additional bracket so people wouldn't yank the strap and damage something..

I had two sets and sold one many years ago. That set was actually complete with all the brackets. This one is missing some brackets. Luckily I made bracket measurements from the first set so my plan was to make copies and install it. So as of now its not a complete kit. However once I get my hands on the JP3 kit I might sell the Mazda one...
