I just got a 1987 RX-7. It has had a rebuilt motor and tranny. I have the papers on it. After it warms up it starts to smoke. Well the oil pan gasket is not blown and there is no leaks that i can tell from but i will smoke some what bad. But i can not tell where it is coming from. Its all underneath the undercarrage. I have never had a rx-7 before and i have a eclipse so i have no clue what to even do. Oh yea and me and my friend where driving and i was going like 60 on the highway and I dropped it into 2nd. and spead up. Well when i stepped on the clutch to shift, it died and so we got it to a mc donalds and we thought we may have put too much strain on it. So we let it set for like 20min. Well we get back in the car and i go and try to start it. It wont idle at all it will start up normal and then just die out. If i am not giving it gas it dies. So i drove bout 10 miles with it bogging out while i was on the highway back to my house. And when i got there and finally tried to get it to idle again it died still. It had been sitting for 2 months. What i Have replaced on it was the plugs, plug wires, oil and fliter, put new gear oil in it. And i also think I have a exhaust leak somewhere cause it sounds like it. But i dont know what to do. I need help

 

the idle and dying / bogging makes me think u blew it....

 

if the engine sounds retarded den u blew ur motor.

also, since u said rebuild, that guy mustve done a half assed rebuild.

try a compression test. if the compression is 100+'ish, den its coo but below that, time for ze rebuild.

and plus, rebuilds are fun!! DDDD

oh yeh btw, when u got the car to start and drove it around, did ur temp gauge go over half? cuz if it did den yeh ur motor is blizzown

 

man am having the same problem my car was running for like a day and the next day i went to go start it and it starts but it will have like blue smoke snd it will die on me realy fast i dont know what to do either am just realy mad becouse i just got it and i want to figure out this problem some one please help please i need help with this car

 

blue smoke = oil

depending on how much smoke...its not good.

 

no it dint go past half my car is just my starter is not working for some reason and now am push staring my car and it will start but it will have blue smoke and it will run and then shut off

 

i had like the back alley with a little smoke and then after it does that it will shut off

 

blue is BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!! i dunno man, if i was you, id rebuild it cuz either way ur gonna have to rebuild it sooner or later right? if ur too lazy do it urself den send it to rotary rez., 1000'ish for rebuild and he does em good(or so ppl say).

 

when its on after i push started it it will start but i will have too leave my foot on the pattle and if i take my foot off it will shut off

 

man the day before my brother was driving it and it was running good and then the next day i went to go start it and then it started and then i went the end off the bacl alley and it shut off i thought it was my gas it was empty and then i put gas and then i went to go start it it the starter would turn but the motor wont start

 

i dont know what to do and anyone could help me that would be realy good
is my motor blowen or is it just something else i dont know

 

Compression test. Do it.

 

I don't think you can say under a 100ish needs a rebuild because if I recall correctly its something like under 85 is a rebuild case, and anything above that is good anything above 100 is excellent.

 

You could probably run an engine with 60 compression, it just wouldn't be worth it. Assuming it started...
