Weight saving questions?

Ok on my battle to get my FC down to 2000 lbs and be street legal is still going. I have so far almost removed everthing no needed. Now on to some more questions.

Which weighs less, power windows or the manual windows? I currently have power windows but my parts car has the manual windows.

Next question which weighs less, the adjustable steering colum or none adjustable steering colum, mine now has the adjustable and my parts car has the none.

power windows are heavier. dunno bout the column, mine has the black handle that folds down which then lets you move the wheel up and down - that would be the adjustable right?

dont know if this will keep it street legal...but ditching the hatch glass and replace with a plexi glass will def save some weight..i think somewhere it says the stock glass is 60lbs

You're NOT going to see 2000lbs...I'm tried and I had the wonderful help of both lexan AND a milwaki (sp?) sawz-all.

well if u really want to get it down ditch the glass and use plexi glass, if street legal like mentioned, go with a complete CF body or as much as possible, use lighter racing seats, take out the AC and other "unneeded" components, replce as many stock parts with aftermarket parts(as many aftermarket parts are lighter than stock) and buy some light racing rims
those should cut down a lot. dunno bout 2000 lbs though

Lexan windows that don't roll down are the lightest possible, or just a net over the window openings

I used 4 small nuts welded to the door to hold my windows in so I could pull them out if needed.

2190lbs full of gas and with me in it, full exhaust, intake, streetport, VDI intake, MSD ignition, elec fan, no power accessories, etc., etc., etc...

Ghetto? If that's the way you want to look at it...

No ****, AC is a necessity in NJ, I'm going to be hating life when I move back there and it starts getting warm there. I have no AC in Colorado and it isnt bad, but it gets mighty humid in NJ.

ghetto like bolts and screws to adjust your window, i didnt mean it as an offensive comment

if this helps at all with your weight problem:
I dont know very much about mechanics as it is, but from what I do know, the electric fan runs off power from your battery/alternater and not from the pulley system, so it gives you some more horsepower because its not straining your engine at all. Same concept as removing your AC (except you save weight also).

AC only bugged me in "defrost" weather when running straight air made the windshild worse.

I did have it as a daily driver...and loved it...until I bought an S5 with a cracked intermediate housing. I tried to put my S4's motor in her and **** rolled down hill from there...

...looking to start over...

I think I just got another SE. It's going to have the same thing happen to it. The first one is gone.

Basically everything that wasn't holding something up was cut out...only thing on the doors themselves was the outside sheet steel and the latch rod. Dash was gutted. Windows to lexan. Everything was pulled out that I didn't need. I actually rebuilt the wiring harness so I could pull out the wires I didn't use, and then only use 6 bands of electrical tape to hold it together. I went at it with the philosophy that if 4 bolts held it, but 3 would work, two would probably do just as good. The outside looked just like any other SE. The inside looked like a different world. I even cut a large portion of the floor pan out (under and behind seats) and used two cross bars for suppor.

If I gut it...by god I do it RIGHT...
