superstock2's turbo track/street/delicious beast build up thread!
hey there all. so for two years i've had an 87 turbo. the car has been great and i love it to death. i drove an 88 gtu all four years of highschool, then when i graduated i decided to get a turbo II. immediately i was in over my head, and in love at the same time. did a few things like intake, exhaust and had fun.
after a while i began to see the limitations with the car and decided to really start putting some time, work, and money in to her. fast forward to three months ago and this is where the pictures start.
first off i disasembled most of the car, began working, and have been putting it back together in the past few weeks.
we decided to strip the sound deadening to cut back some weight, and this is kind of where the build spiraled into more track prep less street prep.

after removing all the tar **** i could i sealed the floor with POR-15 rust sealer... this stuff is amazing and really fun to work with.

finished prepping the floor.
as you can see the por dries amazingly smooth and hard as ****!

okay, so for some reason my turbo II sat really high... i mean really high, even before removing a lot of parts it was a monster truck.

in this picture you can see there is actually positive camber!
well not to leave any area un-addresed i decided to buy some coilovers. after lots of research and reading i decided on the stance units... man are these things nice!! (thanks rishie!)
woot

looking at the "stock" pieces makes me think they aren't what my car left the factory with. upon even closer inspection one of them is taller than the other.

dirty bitch

much better!

as of right now i have the fronts fitted also and will have those pictures soon. heres a couple more snaps to keep you busy though!
EXTREME CAMBER!!

gettin there! p.s. that thing on the front is an airfilter

It looks like you didn't prepare the surface prior to POR-15 application? While you can use any degreaser you want, preparation with MetalReady is vital for proper adhesion on virgin (freshly ground or welded) metal. Without the surface properly etched you may find the POR-15 peeling off in sheets.
