street porting

I was looking into a major power upgrade and saw alot of people talking about street porting and it may sound like a dumb question but what does street porting consist of and what does it do?

what kind of power gain can you get from it?

A street port is a mild port applied to both the intake and exhaust ports. The intake ports are usually opened a little earlier and closed slightly later. The exhaust ports are generally opened earlier. A street port means about a 20% increase in power (on an NA) without sacrificing drivability/idle.

Also, doing it basically means rebuilding the motor.

On Ted's site there are examples of streetporting (on a 4-port engine), he explains some of it and has pictures to help the DIY-er.

read this thread before dumping alot of money into your NA. You should decide what your power goals are and then buy what gets you there.

I like answers like this. It just makes me want to have it done to my NA. Add that with the RB street setup, I'll be set.
