nice pick on the bride wheel.
I appreciate the offer. I think I'll hold off on a racing wheel until I am finished with the interior conversion. I'm not even sure what direction I'll go with the interior yet.
Here is what i picked up for $30, its in PERFECT shape.

I realize it's the best spot functional wise. I just hate how it looks, especially since it doesn't match the rest of the interior. Do you really need to monitor your boost that badly?
I own a turbo-vert (mostly stock) and the only aftermarket guage I have is the boost guage in the a-pillar. The plastic was painted to match the interior and this particular guage has the same color scheme as the interior (right down to the orange backlight with the lights on).
I didin't mean to poop in your thread, was just sticking my nose where it didin't belong

hey syncro, its all good. thats what this thread is for (not pooping). But I can handle critisism, plus, what your saying makes sense, to some degree.
Right now, the gauge is a pretty cheap gauge, but i will be getting the AEM TruBoost controller later on. I also just picked up a FULL black interior (minus seats) so it will all blend a little nicer with all black.
I think boost is pretty important, and since my stock gauge doesnt work, I need to know if I'm creeping. I will be running a methanol system as well, so if i am out of meth, I'll need to monitor the boost more closely.
I think the wideband and egt are equally as important. I cant be leaning out and detonating. If I ever get my hands on that dual egt gauge, I may not need the wideband, but the motec will use the reading.
thanks for the comments. I guess I was trying to emulate the steering surround cup that they make for the FD... guess it is there.

you know, compared to everyone on this site i'm a noob, but i really really admire the guys who can do this sort of thing for something they love. I read almost every post i see on this site and am hoping to be just like all of you guys on here one day with ur "do it yourself" attitude. I think it is totally awesome that you can do something so well its just astonishing. I'm really learning from you guys.
VERY VERY nice work on the 7 its one of the most beautiful on this site i'd give it a 10 outa 10 keep goin man.

thanks for the kind words. I am definetly passionate about RX-7s. Unfortunetly, I don't have the knowledge to a lot of this work. I am very involved in the process, and do what I can on my own. But Elliot at Turblown.net is the one really putting in the hours on this project.
I can tell you are passionate about the RX as well, and it will only be a matter of time before you get to build one to your own specs!

finish? already?!! **** bro, it's taken me forever to get my engine built. Should be ready real soon tho.
That DP will work, no doubt. are you gonna wrap it? I ended up getting a PanSpeed DP from Japan2LA. Then getting it coated.
If you want, you could have turblown make the DP for you. It's gotta be a custom DP right? He is making one for an FD with a t04 right now.

i was at the shop yesterday, and we went over a few options for my new shocks. I had a couple options, and opted to go with the externally adjustable Koni's with a 12", 110 lbs. spring. This will lower my car 2" right off the bat, then give me 4" ride height adjustment. Also, there is 4 differnt dampening settings on this shock.
I also had the joy of cleaning my under-carriage. THAT SUCKS!!!
The car was up on stands, about 3' in the air, and I had to get on a board on the ground and pressure wash it. To make things worse, the car was not on concrete, it was on dirt...
That was one nasty job, and next time, I'll pay someone to do it!!

So the short block is all together and ready for install. The throw-out bearing will have to be replaced before the engine actaully goes in, but that'll go quickly.
I am also replacing the fuel filter, vacuum hoses and fuel lines at this time. After checking out the charge wires, it seems that this would also be a good time for a battery re-location. The current wires are stiff as a board. I think I'll stick the battery behind the passenger seat, in the bin. I've been checking out sealed boxes to place the battery in so I can take this car to the track.
