Progress on the 7
We finished the battery relocation this weekend. It went pretty smooth over-all, But I am gonna have to pad the carpet a bit so the bin fits over top of the new batter box.
Also got the new dash and carpet in. The is definitly the hardest part of the interior swap. These two items took most of Sunday.
I really like the new look, even the seat belts look smoother. Can't wait to get all the trim pieces in!

I was up there on Saturday for an hour or so to drop off my manual steering rack and converted tail lights. The dash was not in the car...guess you guys got to work on Sunday.

Hey Brain, I saw that tail light conversion, real sweet bro. That car is stylin for sure. Happy birthday, just consider the RX a late birthday gift when you finally get it back!
I worked on that car Fri-Sat-Sun. I must've just missed you. There was a little bump in the road putting the battery box in. Since the chassis isnt flat under the bins, we ran outta bolt. So I had to go to Ace the next day to get longer threaded bolts. I came back Sat night and set the dash in place.
After that, the carpet was a real hassle. I refused to cut it (despite Elliot's suggestions) and was having a hard time getting it all the way to the firewall. So I took the dash out (agian). It made it a little easier, but the real benifit of taking the dash out the second time... putting that harness on the dash first, then attaching the dash. All the clips fell right in place once the dash was in. Hope to have the rest of the int in on Wed.
When are you gonna be up there next?

Hey Macz, I'd definitly like to have this finished ASAP, but there are so many issues to address! If it was just the motor, we'd be done by now.
I've know of too many motors that are rebuilt, but other aspects of the car arent addressed (ie. harness, fuel mods,etc) and they blow in a few months. Just don't want that to happen ya know?
Nolan, once mine is running, I'd really like to do the under carrige like you did, that is pretty damn sweet.

One question I had for you was why go to all the trouble of the Motec, all internal parts coated, a total precision engine build with all the trimmings and use that log style manifold and internal wastegate?
Was it a cost issue? Seems like a big retainer of heat right on the engine block which is never a good thing...also a fairly inefficient design when the whole rest of the engine is built to be highly efficient.
Is the turbo oil and water cooled? What type of intercooler are you going to use? Plans for water injection?
And finally...what are your power goals?

Thats a really good observation about the turbo. And believe me, I'd like to be putting one like yours on there right now. But it would be really nice to get my wheels back.
As far as it being a heat retainer, your right, but it isnt as bad as it would be. The wastegate is ported, the manifold and turbine housing are coated.
It is oil and water cooled, stock inter-cooler, spraying methanol.
I am hoping for 320+ with the stock turbo.
I definitly have plans for the big turbo next, but the first prioity for me was getting an engine that could handle what ever I throw at it. I think that is what we've built. I'll run it with stock turbo for a few months, then upgrade to a big turbo, turblown manifold, with the hardlines. At that point, I will have to have larger fuel lines built and upgraded rails and inj.
I look at this way, with the set up I have now, I can ride it while the turbo system is being built. As you know, that takes time in itself! haha!
My eventual goals are 450-500 with AC. But thats gonna take a little time.

Well first thing I would do is to ditch that stock inter'heater'. Methanol will help immeasurably but a better intercooler would also help a ton.
My goals were around 400hp w/ A/C while keeping it streetable. I have a lot of track time in lower HP cars (between 250-300whp with fully built suspensions and race tires) that I handled very well and kept up with some much more capable cars... the whole reason I got this car was so that I would be no longer JUST "keeping up..."
After this thing is done I will have so much invested that I will probably go out and get a different car that I am not so attached to, to drive around the track. I am scared to beat on this one...lol! And fear doesn't belong on a racetrack. NOT if you want to go fast anyway!

got my UIM blasted today. It looks kinda plain without a finish, so it's getting a coat of semi-gloss black.

Old shocks, for sale btw.
Koni coil-overs. The rear ones are finished and installed. Played around with them a little today. They are SO easy to adjust.
