s5 has a green single connector near the front coil (next ot the battery). Just jumper it to body 12v- ground.

Then put key in and turn to on position (but do not start!). Watch the CEL codes blink. Long blink= 10, short blink =1. Its pretty obvious whats going on when you watch the blinking...

S5 has a thermosensor in the AFM (air flow meter--pre-throttle body) and on the dynamic chamber (after throttle body).

CEL codes get locked in the ECU any time a sensor (input or output) gets tripped, shorted, or has a value that is out of range.

For example if the termalsensor said that it was 400degC in the intake... its pretty obvious that the sensor is manfunctioning, and the ECU will not use the 400degC (augh.. that be massive hot... car on fire hot) and instead will use its defaulted temp (which is like 40ish C I think)...

Basicaly, anytime the ECU sees a bad value from a sesnor, it decides not to use it, and instead use a stock default value (which usually makes the car run like **** :P )

EDIT:
One more thing, the FSM reference to CEL codes are in section F1, page 18.

S5 F1-18.

naww, project84 might be coming over to test his hand at welding-- I don't have the nack for it obviously. we're thinking about "dropping" the exhaust and seeing what can be done... Its seriously not *that* bad though, lol

I have five y pipes.....the guy can just have one I'm sure.
And what do mufflers cost from autozone or checker? Probly not that much if you get a universal.....in either case it'll be cheap. For crying out loud you go to a junk yard don't you kenteth?

Junkyards around here don't have much for FC's.

Sourcing **** localy doesn't work outside of the few other forum members. we do however seem to have a pretty big stockpile in our garages...

Anyhow, I've got a y-pipe... its not flanged, or decent looking anymore, but I've got one... Just need to rig up some inbetween piping...
