Old heads ...
This thread was inspired by the age poll. A small percentage of the members are above age 32; but a small percentage is better than no percentage. Take a look at the honda forums, they are almost entirely 16-25. The older members are essential to our lil community. Think about how much you learned in just the last year, then think about how much you probably will learn next year. You have to believe that these guys that have been around for 30+ years are gonna know their stuff. We need the chain of knowledge to stay strong, otherwise our lil community will grow weak. I'm only 23, but I'm smart enough to relize that at least 60 percent of my questions are answered by the 20 percent of older members.
I've learned more from my grandfather than anyone I've ever spoken to. He was an airplane mechanic in WW2, and he also co-owned a auto shop for a few years. Without the knowledge he passed on to me I would probably be taking my car to the dealer for oil changes.

The knowlegde base information which I recieve from this forum is the only reason why my rx7 runs so well. So many people have helped me pull things together. I had no idea this forum would give me so much talent from everybody. None of my questions have gone unanswered.
A bad forum example is www.saabnet.com - Everyone is snotty and noone really knows anything more than "more boost" lalala
Superhonda.net is just a bunch of people asking what mod gives the best power.

Im 16 and i like to think that im pretty knowledgeable about cars but i can only hope to be as smart as some of the older people on here. I learn a lot from this forum and without the rx7 i might have fallen into the riceboy scene since that pretty much all there is around here. Now most of the people i know who work on cars come to me for help and advice.
Thanks
Many people on this forum have helped me out, and they don't even know it. I've been lurking here for a couple months now, just soaking up information and not saying a word. When I have my car patched up and more knowledge to spread, I'll start posting.
Many thanks,

I'd like to say thanks to the sharp young guys from an " old head". This car is my first rotary, and everytime I get on here, I learn something. Thanx to everyone for taking the time to answer my questions. This site is addictive!

I have to second Shamrock's reply. I'm 46 and have had my 88 SE for two years. I've had many cars - Corvette, 240 Z, Firebird, etc., and although I know traditional engines inside out, rotaries were new to me, and I have learned a LOT from all of the posts here, not just about rotary engines, but the RX7 as a whole. In fact, I'd have been up the creek a few times without it. So, to hell with age - We all have the same interest, whether we're 17 or 57. Age is about as relevant to our hobby as hair color. It's the enthusiasm that counts.

as i told someone today,
rx-7 guys are the best mix of people in cars, we arent ricers because we cant just bolt random **** all over our engines from cheap manufacturers that claim 30% power boost from spark plugs and silicone hose covers. and we have a lot of the same "do it yourself the hard way" work ethic similar to the muscle car v8 guys because we cant just take it to the local shop to get it fixed. it is a challenge for everyone to keep up a rotary, young and old. and the experienced car guys often have to learn with the yunguns. so we are just the perfect community, working together to create a better rotary. i love it

Yeah, its a shame the forum is filled with idiots... Usually only 1 out of 10 posts is worthwhile. Sometimes you have to search hard to find the quality stuff, and mose of the good advice dispensed falls on dead ears. Oh well, at leasts there's good mailing lists.

I had my 7 for two years befor descovering the forum. I had to learn everything the hard way at first. I like helping others with their 7s. and I love it when someone can help me so I don't have to keep learning the hard way. I am 26, that is old enough to know when to ask for help
Thanks to all the members of the forum.
and especially to the creators.
now, can someone cuddle with me please. I need to be held.
