Get yourself a Purolator or Wix from a parts store for like $5.00 and call it good (iirc, NAPA gold is a Purolator). I avoid Frams because of their poor bypass design and small media surface area, but besides that, not much to commend a $20 filter over good $5 ones.
I'm guessing a bit on the pricing, Wix and Purolators run $8-9 here, but we get soaked on most stuff here in Canada compared to American prices.

I have to say, that oil filter seems like it would be a considerable constriction in the system. The inlet holes are teeny tiny and spaced far apart.

-You are sitting directly in front of something that can gather you almost INFINITE information...
-That info can be manipulated and possibly incorrect (To sell you something... To cheat you out of your money.)
-There are lots of people out there that have had the same ideas you have.
Do a search for 'oil filter study' in Google...
You'll end up with the finding this link:
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/index.html
What he did is he bought a ton of oil filters, all for the same vehicle. Then he opened the box, popped out the filter, and cut the filter apart.
No sales pitch, no funding by a manufacturer... Just raw numbers and observed features...
Here's the thing... Lots of random people will spout wrong **** to you.
-People feel embarrassed by saying, "I don't know." or, "I was wrong."
-People want to rip you off to make a quick buck.
-People will repeat something they heard from someone... Who heard it from someone else... Who heard it from...
-People don't know any better...
But now YOU know. How do you know? Because I just told you.
Second guess everyone... Your parents... Your teachers... Books... Even me.
Do your OWN research. Don't ever take anything straight up without double checking it.
Everyone makes mistakes... Everyone ***** up...Intentionally or not.
It's called "Critical Thinking"... Just think, "Does what this guy is saying really make sense?
Somewhere, someone said that this $21 Blitz filter is SUPERIOR to other filters... Somehow, it's better than anything else you can get.
So let's look at this $21 Blitz oil filter. Let's compare it to your average oil filter...
You can only get a certain size of filter on the FC's mount and have it fit under the hood.
The next highest filter is the K&N at like 11 bucks... Look at what's in that.
Then look at a Purolator or Wix filter. Look at how different the internal components are... It's just wrinkled paper (Or synthetic media) and some plastic valve and seal components all shoved into a metal can.
Not much else to put in the can, so the only way to get a better filter is to get a larger can on the outside and increase the filter media accordingly...
Also you might want to consider other high use engines...
Racing is a hobby. How about an engine used for WORK.
Trucks put up with lots of abuse... High load from towing, plowing, or what have you.
If a work vehicle's engine dies, it's not just the vehicle the company loses... It's not just the repair costs... The company actually loses income. They have a vested interest in keeping the engine running.
I don't know of any companies running a Blitz filter on their vehicles. (Typically Wix, Purolator, or Fleetguard.)

Next time i'll try not to get all hung up on "OMG blitz makes awesome tuning cars so i gotta get their products!"
I'll leave that to RE Amemiya... Just have to save a "little" longer for their parts. lol.

Opinions are like........
I used Nissan filters. Wrecked the Nissan. Bought a Kia. And, the Kia filter fits the Rx7 just fine. Kia filter is probably once of the best built filters for the money that I've seen.

GOOD NEWS! RHDJapan emailed me saying that the "BLITZ filter does not fit the car in any way possible." True and epic quote. So it's off to the Mazda dealer for me, OEM+

Cutting open and staring at it does nothing to test how the media filters.
I have a roll of toilet paper that'll out filter ANY filter mentioned in that silly minimopar link.
There were 3 filters, with 20mm threads, on the Blitz website that could possibly fit. Just convert the external dimensions to inches and break out the tape measure. It looked like that a couple should fit fine. I guess your email went to someone incompetent at blitz.
Years back, there was an oilfilterstudy that tested the actual media. What a novel idea and why we have a filter to begin with. It seriously contradicted all the 'visual filter' tests.
You can buy spray paint at your hardware store to paint your filter any fancy ricer color you want. Add some stripes and flames to that oil filter to make it work better for you. Break out some stencils and have fun with your spray paint.
With the recommended frequency of oil change intervals, the brand/type of filter won't make a difference in engine longevity.
