neutral safety switch
I know this has been asked but all the info I could find was vauge.
I just swaped over an S5 5 Speed tranny into a 86 s4 that had an auto.
Now I can't get it to start. As in the write up I looked for a 3 connector plug but there is none. There is a four wire connector.
Please help I have a new engine and transmission in my 7 and all I want to do is drive.

did you connect the ignition switch (where the key goes) to the battery? The neutral switch is only so you can start the car in nuetral on an auto tranny, which you no longer have so its not going to get wired up. I did a tranny swap on my '86 GXL about a year ago.

Not sure what you mean by that but I'm using a manual tansmission starter and it seems to have a wire that comes off the top of the starter. On my other car there is a black/white stripe that goes here but for some reason it's not in this wiring harness.
Also I have no green/black wire near the tranny so what do I do now.
Wait a picture is worth a thousand words.

Ok, to get my car to start, there was a black wire w/red stripe under the dash coming from the ignition switch. It was plugged into a black wire w/green stripe. This connection was also under the dash near the steering column. I disconnected this plug, and ran my own wire from the black w/red to the starter. It should plug into the starter where my picture above says "Ignition Tab". I read the document I attached to see which of the rest of the wires are for the reverse lights. The rest of the stuff I don't remember what I did with, but I don't see that many wires under my car so I must have cut the rest of the ones for the auto tranny off.

It turns out the starter was bad.
But I didn't know you had to run a wire under the dash for the starter.
Thanks for the info. Any ideas what those other wires do?

You'd have to give the color of the wires in the four socket plug. Like black/white, blue/green......as in a black wire with a white stripe and a blue wire with a green stripe. If you do that, then it can be determined what they do in life. They will be shown on the schematics in the series four factory service manual that is free and online.

My engine starts but my injectors will not fire, up no power

This thread is fifteen years old, just an fyi.
You would be better off making your own thread that isn't based on an entirely separate issue. The way your post is formatted, it's difficult to tell at first glance what your issue is compared to the 15+ year old issue the OP had.
