looks like you got spark and fuel. couldnt tell but did you have ur foot all the way down on the gas? also tighten up ur throttle cable....i had to this. also if someone can help you have someone push all the way down on the throttle underneath the hood as you crank it over. but before that pull ur egi and inj fuses under the hood and crank that motor over till the battery is close to dead. yes like 3 mins lol then charge the battery up and have someone hold down the throttle under the hood as you crank it over and hold the throttle down until the rpms hit 7 grand and keep giving it gas for a lil bit and then see if it will idle. telling man ive had to do this quite a few times. its just majorly flooded!!! i swear!!

Measure the voltage on pin 2I of the ECU w/key to on. The reading should be about 2 to 3 volts.

What method did you use to check the AFM? Do you have a spare that you can swap out?

whats the proper way of testing the AFM? So that way I can do it and see if I can get it started or not. I have a feeling that it is definately some sensor or wiring that is keeping me from starting up and staying there.

Go to 4A-54 in the Factory Service Manual and bust out your Multi-meter and go to town; or just get a used one in known working condition from someone on here, its good to have a spare one of those laying around, and they are cheap cheap for N/A's

http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ual/1986_1988/

From the video, it seems like the AFM is busted, as well as an obvious flooding problem; at least I have had similar issues with the cause being the AFM before; in fact try just unplugging it, start it (or attempt to) a few times, then plug it back in and see if it works. Sounds strange, but it worked for me a few times.

Listen to satch as well, he knows his stuff; a bad water thermosensor can cause rich conditions at startup; which wouldn't help your flooding problem at all. While your multi-meter is out, check that pin at the ECU he mentioned earlier.

I love semi-colons.

Well it definitely wont go then, you gotta plug it back in....this is really just kinda to re-seat the connection and disrupt any corrosion that may have built up over time...

You need a multimeter to check the AFM as well as other components on your car.

Yes, if you follow the link I sent you and use the multimeter per the FSM you can check the AFM...

I'm starting to think this guy ignores the "difficult" advice...

Re-check any recent 'mods' you've done to the car

Didn't mean to offend, but you are going to need to get them if you plan to do your own diagnostics.... A multimeter from Radio Shack is like 10 bucks, and it will save your ***, and your wallet.

That'll do.

BTW, the link to the FSM as posted earlier is broken:

Here's another link:
http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/1988FSM/

Print it and keep it handy (or buy a copy) The FSM is very helpful for troubleshooting like this.
You can also pick up a Haynes manual at AutoZone for about $20... Not as detailed as the FSM, but still useful.
