I just now thought about it and my car drinks gas

OK, I have had this car for about a month before I joined the forum, and I just now started to think about this. My car has gone threw three tanks of gas and I have only drove it at the very most 90 miles. And I do go out and start it up 1-2 times a weak, and let it run just long enough to warm up and then I shut it off and go do somthing else. My question would be is it normal for an RX-7 to drink that much gas with it only idleing, and the occasional redline or two when I drive. And if you wondering I don't have tags on the car so that is why I don't drive it that much. But I am working on getting those very soon. Also for those whohave a fuel cut switch or anyone for this matter can you guys hear you fuel pump running, I can hear mine hum when I turn the fuel cut switch.

well when you turn the switch off. it should turn off the pump... that is the point it of.

and if you are idling in the driveway. you are using gas and not putting any miles on it. so there is no way to tell how much it uses... fill it up. and drive till it's empty.

That may leave him somewhere bad...

Or you could drive till the gas light comes on, in which case you should have 2 gallons of gas left in the tank.

Miles traveled / (your size gas tank - 2 gallons)

Yeah it works I start and shut it off with the switch. Well as soon as I get the tags for the car, I will see what the real gas milage is. But I just can't imagine that it loves that much gas with the very little that I run it.

Do you have to do that every time or have you just been told to? If it won't start without using the switch every time you either have very dirty injectors (not too expensive to fix), low compression (expensive to fix) or both. Either will cause higher than normal fuel consumption.

Well I have to start the car with the switch when ever it is warm other wise it will flood it's self. And I have had the injectors cleaned, but I think one is leaking or bad. And I did a compression check on the car but the gauge I bought is a piece of crap, I don't think that it gave me any kind of acurate reading. It said I had three even snaps on each rotor with both rotors nearly perfectly the same on the gauge, but maybe I used it wrong (and I did warm the engine up) because it said I only had about 30-35 PSI or somthing like that, and I don't even think one will run with that low of compression will it?

And if it will boy do I need a rebuild.

Don't do that ^^^. Do this: fill up the gas tank completely, then drive till the gas light comes on, then fill it up again. Then do (Miles traveled)/(gallons of gas added after driving).
