12a tuning questions.

I have a bridge ported 12a with 465 holly carb/intake and full exhaust. This is a 24hr of lemons car and has 5 races on it. Car runs great, but always in search of more power. We are running 89 octane gas and 19 degrees of timing. Would it be worth stepping up to 93 octane and increase timing? We burn 100gallons per race. Cost vs hp is the info I'm looking for.

try it on a dyno. i think you would notice a power difference.

you also might try a couple of different mixtures, not sure where you are, so i can't really make a suggestion. best power is somewhere in the 12.5-13:1 area. some combinations will make a teeny bit more power leaner, but you wanna be a tad rich in a race car, helps keep it together

We are running on the rich end of the spectrum. Mid 11's on the air fuel. This car runs for 14+ hours straight on the track, only shutting down to refuel in the "hot pits". Spark plugs look perfect and last the entire race. So the carb is where we don't want to mess with it. Just trying to extract a little more power without hurting it. (Car also is only 1200 lbs . ).

if its that rich, yeah i'd try a couple more degrees of timing.
