did you clean the threads off? old locktite on the threads can destroy your nut and eccentric shaft if you don't bother cleaning it off and using new locktite each time.

he he, i have never had it, nor heard of it being hard to put on the nut..... are you sure your not cross threading it?
i mean i know its large, but if everyting is right its just like any other nut and bolt, if its hard to thread, then there is a problem someware.
THe last thing you want to do is cross thread your E-shaft.

carb cleaner, wire brush, and a rag works just fine.

heat it with a torch (heat it dont cut it or melt it) to break the bonds in the factory locktite, and the impact should get it right off. worked for me after i tried bigass breaker bars and broke a 1/2" drive wratchet when the impact wouldnt do anything at all.

edit: wait a sec not going on easy? sorry brain fart. you sure you don't have it cross threaded? check the nut and the shaft and make sure you didn't destroy a thread on one side or the other.

well, get it off, and make sure the threads are looking good. if so, clean it up real nice, and make sure the threads on the flywheel nut look ok to.... if all is good try it again.
it really is not hard to thread it on, so it sounds to me like you have a problem someware.
most likley dirty threads..... HOPE

lay the key in the center of the groove and use a pair of channel locks to seat it down, angle the front edge of the key down slightly more than the rear edge so it won't hang up like it did to you in the first place.

be sure to check that your seal is ok and that there isn't any metal debris on your main bearings.

The trick to easy flywheel nut installation is to not cross thread the nut.

Seriously, it should thread almost all the way on by hand. The last 5 turns should require an impact to achieve proper tightness.

Sometimes people use excess loctite or sealant that must be taken off beforehand. For this I'd use a rag (think about polishing shoes) or a rotary wire brush.
