You use a chain to brace the flywheel, then get a big *** rachet on the 350 ft.lb. flywheel nut. Add 2-3 people to help and a length of pipe to add leverage & voila...the nut comes off.

Copied directly from the FAQ:

How do I remove the flywheel nut and flywheel?
The flywheel nut is torqued to approximately 350 Ft-LBs and is 54MM or 2 1/8" in size. You will need a large breaker bar or impact gun and then some means to keep the flywheel still as the nut is spun off. The flywheel can then be pulled off with a puller or pried off from behind. The flywheel locks from places like Mazdatrix are your friends. My flywheel nut was REALLY on there took a good impact gun to get it off, and a sledge hammer to get it off the e-shaft.

I jumped on the bar with a friend, while another held the motor still on the ground.

Put the nut back on a few threads and wack it with a sledge(not on the dowls or on the face).

http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/flywheelremoval.htm

Check the video out there, thats what I did. Since the car was on jackstands I could get a real good swing(aka it took a few). However; that trick did work fine.
