hey now im always kind to your work. the tail needs to be rounded out at the top across the back. and the back piece itself is completely up and down, yours angles forward just slightly. other than that, put it in white and put those 3 spoke wheels on it and give these mirrors a shot...

I agree that the tail needs a bit of work (more vertical instead of slanted), but the mirrors should stay stock....as should anything else that is a signifigant departure from the stock look.

If we can find a way to get this into a CFD prgram (ie. virtual windtunnel) it would be nice for the aero profile to be the same as the stock car so that anyone who uses it for this application can asses the impact of different mods more accurately. In order for that to happen, things such as the mirrors need to stay stock.

I think it looks AWESOME!

Yeah, I need to do more work on the body, I do know that, I'm trying to get it down though, it's hard with never seeing one in my life really close up...

In terms of windtunnel technology...that would be amazing if my work was put through that kind of test...


About 2 years now for just modeling, I had another year before that on just the program itself.

Added a few new tags, aligned the normals, optimized the points, just general clean-up of the mesh. All that I had time for today...

 

good good. also i am a filthy rotten liar! i looked at my buddies fc today and the part where the tail lights are is straight up and down but it angles slightly forward before it gets to the top then rounds out if that makes sense. i will take a pic if you need it

Do you intend to model the engine?

Once you get the wheels/tires/oher external stuff finished, send your model my way. I can run a CFD (computational flud dynamics) run on it.

I may model the engine, it depends on a few qualifiers...

And if I get the model up to specs in terms of THAT accurately done, I may just send it your way for that purpose.

 

What software are you going to use if you do this?

 

I primarily use CosmosFloWorks at work, which is one of the analysis packages that SolidWorks sells. We also use StarCD CFD at work. It's more powerful than FLoWorks, but it's pretty cumbersome to use. I've been using FloWorks for a couple of years now and it's easy to use and fairly powerful. For this sort of thing it's pretty much perfect.

Found out a few ways of poly management, well...more ways at least...

I've spent the last few days working on lighting control and figuring out how to achieve more realistic car paint, which I have succeeded in, so I finally came back to the FC model...

Here it is now... doesn't look like much has changed, but the surface will be much smoother now...

Alright, I've gotten a bit more on the door done, and I pulled some points back to make a visible line showing the shape...

Tell me if anyone sees any errors in the shape of the door...

Pretty flippin' cool man. Had a friend at work for awhile that worked in 3d studio max. This sort of stuff always interested me, but I never had the patience to mess with any of it.

I didnt read the ENTIRE thread, but i did most of it, and if you are looking for more reference pice here are a few of mine. I figure at least they wont hurt, and no two people's pics are going to be from exactly the same angle so they may help idk.
