I got vray, but you don't wanna throw it into vray till you get your lighting and materials done.

well what i did for those was just set up the lighting then render it, if it didnt look any good move the lights, render again, etc etc, i cant remember what materials i used for those i did it so long ago, it was a material i made, ive completely forgotten how to do any 3ds work what so ever :\ and a little while ago i found a pretty decent program for like environments and 3d scenes its called Vue 6 Xtreme this is a env i made the first time i used it, its really simple

For those of you who have followed this project thank you, I'm completely done with the front end of the car now. However I have gotten a job working on video games, and can no longer afford the time to work on it again.

I will be working with it on my spare time during holidays and such, but have no idea when it will be completed.

If you are going to be in Seattle, and are a gamer, I will however be at the 2008 PAX convention, with Tinderbox Entertainment, and I would be happy to show you the model in real life. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to finishing it asap.

It's August 29th - 31st. www.pennyarcadeexpo.com if you're interested.

Shoot me an email or something if you wish to know more and I'll get you all set up. I don't know if I'll be back here to check up before this event however.

I was looking at the moldings but I wanted to be sure. Such detail is impressive.

Had a question on how to do something with the back of the car, but I got my question answered by my boss, I didn't have good reference of how the taillights were... (no an angled shot doesn't work that great. :p)

So, flawed or not - here is the back of the car. There is still a lot of errors to hammer out in the mesh on the sides, and plenty of areas I need to work to make it flush better. But, I thought that people would possibly like to see more.

Sorry to ramble, here's what you came for:

Fixed the front bumper where parts were overlapping, also did the same for the hood scoop. The body rubber is now much more flush with the sides. Few other random updates too.

As long as people are looking and commenting, and liking my work, I'll keep posting it as long as I'm wanted.

Looks really good.

A few details;

The headlight covers for the popups should be slightly more rounded on the corner toward the center of the hood, the trim on the upper half and back (toward rear of the car) on the door windows is too thick by about 2x, the hood scoop edges should be smoothed into the hood (not the vent on the front, but the rest of it), and the sunroof is higher then the roof (or at least appears that way), and shouldn't be.

Very nice work man, most impressive.

Thanks for the input, I'll show you some of what is going on with the model from my view.

NOTE: Areas circled in RED are pointing things out, GREEN is the new correction.

First off, the light, the GREEN should be where it is? Would you possibly mind taking a picture directly from the TOP view of it, straight above? To illustrate this better to me?

Secondly, the window rubber, I don't think you saw what it was like, however I still may be wrong.

And finally, the sunroof, how far is it depressed into the car? I just realized I built it funny to where you're right, it does stick out, as illustrated below. Also, GREEN is set aside to show where it would match the upper part of the roof.

My car is in about 500 pieces right now, so I unfortunately don't have any good photos of that area, but the point I'm talking about is the corner directly right of the one you have circled. The radius you've done in green looks very close, but it needs to be on the next corner over. The hood also makes a slight radius right there as well, to match the one on the cover. Both are subtle (as is your green correction).

The lower window trim looks right on (the rubber), but the rear and upper sections should be about half as thick as the lower, the strip on the actual car is fairly subtle and about half as wide, and half as tall as the lower strip.

The sunroof is intended to sit completely flush (and it's formed to the same approximate angle as the roof lines) but in practice it sits very slightly lower then the roof line, maybe 1-2 mm at most.

Again, this is very impressive work, for anyone who hasn't played with this stuff, it's a lot of work. I used to do AutoCAD stuff years ago (2d site plots for subdivisions), and once I enter that crazy 3rd dimension, I get all kinds of lost.

edit:

I went and took some pictures. Sorry they aren't great, this is my old car, that is currently being parted out...

1MZFE- Beautiful work as always! Please continue developing the model, as I'm sure many of us FC owners would greatly appreciate your contribution(s)!

What is the Seattle expo about that your attending this Aug? I may be interested in checking it out.

-On a side note, is it possible to import the model into an aerodynamics simulator to get some actual figures on beneficial aero modifications to the car? I've long wanted to improve upon the factory aerodynamics and with some computer modeling/simulation perhaps we (the Rx-7 Club) can develop a basic aerodynamic guide with actual data.

I already powered down my modeling computer for the night, 8 processors - killer on the power bill lol...

But thanks for the suggestions, and when I get back from tomorrow I plan to spend a lot of time working out these errors that you guys have been gracious enough to point out to me, which is exactly what I want. I'm still a starving artist, and going through college is rough. :p

The expo in seattle is PAX, www.pennyarcadeexpo.com, I will be there with Tinderbox Entertainment, I'm currently a intern there, and am doing all of the illustrations for a board game the company is producing, they are also planning on (eventually) turning me into a senior artist for the company.

The model I'm not sure how accurate it would be to real-life FC, however it would be interesting to see how accurate I have gotten it, however - since the FC is only my dream car, and I don't actually have one (or know anyone near me with one) it's semi-hard to get these things right off just pictures.

Even if it can't be used for such high-tech data analysis, I'd still be more than happy to help with making banners, or custom signatures for people on the forum, since the car can be rendered with any scene, any background, any pose, lighting, etc etc etc...

Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I will be back with updates asap. Thank you all once again.

Yes I know it could be used, but I'm merely stating that I doubt it COULD be applied due to flaws in the height, width, etc etc...

Look for updates tonight! Hoping to fix the hood by then!
