FC fuel filter replacement

still trying to pin point my issues here, got a new fuel filter for my 90’ Convertable; I’ve watched a couple videos on replacing the fuel filter and none so far have been really any help. I’ve looked into my hanes manual and it helps, but there’s gotta be an easier way to get this done. Any pointers could Make this a faster process for me. Thanks!

What seems to be your trouble? The fuel filter is held in a clamp by one bolt, and has hose clamps holding the fuel lines on either end. It is located on the firewall below the brake booster.

I let the car sit overnight before replacement, but one can pull the fuse and let the car die when it runs out of gas.

Well wait. The manual says it’s located in the rear of the car to the side of the diff.....which is why I was hunting for an easier way to replace it...🤔 now I’m really confused. I’ll have to look into it on my next day off.

The fuel pump is at the rear of the car. It's even easier to replace. They even have an access panel so you can do it from the top.

there is some emissions type thing up there
pump is accessible through the trunk via access panel ( as someone else already stated )
fuel filter is up front, if not serviced for a while the hardest part might be fighting a rusty fastener and if laying on your back try to get the car up a bit, my filter is no longer there but if memory serves me right I would do part of it from up top and part from down below

I’m gonna double check the manual, and check the car itself, I’m positive the manual is showing the filter to be beside the diff, but I definitely could’ve been getting it mixed up with the pump.

The pump is inside the fuel tank, not "next to the diff".

Yeah. The pump is. I’m talking about the fuel FILTER it makes complete sense for it to be in the engine bay. I’m just confused because the Hanes manual and videos I’ve watched all tell it it’s located to the side of the diff. A 1990 fc s5 vert.ill double check; like I said. I’m most likely wrong

Just to continue being a pedantic *******, allow me to point out that there is also a filter- commonly referred to as "the sock" on the bottom of the pump, INSIDE the tank.
This filter is oft overlooked, a victim of the "out of sight, out of mind" syndrome.

Ahhhhhhh.....guys. Ya know what? I’m an idiot. I’ve been looking at this picture In this damn manual UPSIDE DOWN this whole time....it’s picturing the front underside of the car, not the rear......explains why that was such a funny looking diff. I’m so sorry. Disregard this post. Goodness. Hahahah
