fuel filter replacement. Pulled fuel pump fuse. still idling

Im trying to de-pressurize the fuel system, i popped off the fuel cap and pulled the fuel pump relay fuse located on the front of the care (infront of air filters) but the car continues to idle... how long should it idle for untill fuel pressure drops enough for it to stall? (been idling for 5 mins already).

Are you sure you pulled the right fuse? It's the big one closer to the battery. I usually just take off the gas cap and leave the car overnight.

You didn't pull a fuse, you pulled the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay on this car only switches the fuel pump to high speed. The car will quite happily idle for weeks without a fuel pump relay as the pump is still able to run at low speed.

If you pull the fuel pump FUSE the fuel pump will most definitely not run.

^^hmmm thats true

i forgot about that.. a fuse completes a circuit, without that, the fuel pump will not work.. but removing a relay will still allow it to work..

damn its been so long LOL

That is the relay that bypasses the FP load resistor. That realy does nothing at idle.

The FP fuse is in the fuse panel by your left foot.

The FP Circuit Opening Relay is by the left shock tower.

These are you best options!

the circut opening relay supplies power to the pump. the fp relay bypasses the resistor under bost/high acc.
