E-fan conversion adding 11whp?? dyno vid inside
If this is a repost I apologize, as the video has been out since 2008, but I found nothing about it on this forum. This is the first dyno test I've seen comparing the clutch fan to an efan conversion. But 11 hp, really? Doesn't sound right, especially on a low horsepower engine to begin with...
Music sucks, you've been warned...

well the guy was running with out most of the belts he only had the alternator one installed and its been proven that each belt taken off will add some HP im currently running only with the PS and Alt i took off the AP and AC belt and i noticed a difference on how fast my **** was accelerating like i was running with shackles before i took them off so i guess replacing a C-Fan with a E-Fan will make a diff. just saving up to get one myself

ok... first i see in this video.
his fan isnt working on the first pull. sure it spins, but its not pulling air through the radiator.
2nd, its not a gilmer drive. it is an FD pulley set.
3rd, the battery is not tied down at all.
4th, the fan clutch is free wheeling when the car is in motion. im sure it doesnt take 11 HP to turn that fan.
5th, they are idiots. nobody should ever see a video like this and wonder about the legitimacy of it.
also, its not adding, its freeing up. power adders add power, such as nitrous or any forced induction. what they are doing is called freeing up hp.
you have been seriously trolled.

It looks like the clutch fan may even be permanently in the locked position. The center section looks to be spinning at the same rate as the fan blades; even when the engine is revved to redline. This would mean the clutch is never disengaging to allow free-wheeling. I call B.S.
So was this 11whp freed when the big guy decided to get out of the car??
At any rate, I would say the clutch fan was most likely stuck engaged but I would be interested in seeing a legitimate dyno pull from a reputable source on this topic...

defined autoworks is on the forum...send them a PM for more info. https://www.rx7club.com/members/gtorx7--140809/
I think it's a distraction to even consider potential horsepower gains (or loses?) in the efan conversion.
Swapping to the electric fan gives you much more precise control of the cooling system and that benefit alone should suffice.
