drove with headers ONLY!!!

i got to drive my car home today with the racing beat headers and presilencer ONLY!!! it was very sweet.

at first i thought to myself i would love to keep it that way because it sounds like a true race car, but 10 minutes later i had a headache!!!

as you would have guessed it was EXTREMELY LOUD!!!

it was a lot of fun though. it turns a lot of people's heads.

yay! we helped prevent someone from putting pacesetters on their car. "If you can help just ONE person, it's all worthwhile"

I have driven in my friends 3rd gen with just the downpipe on.. Holy Crap that was loud as hell. The passenger seat was vibrating like crazy since the exhaust was exiting right under it. Also at 130mph the exhaust gases no longer exited out the back of the car. For some reason they decided to get sucked up through the shift boot. Lets just say by the time I got back to my house I was extremely sick for about 4 hours and my friend actually got back to his house and passed out for about 2 hours.

I drove my rx-3 with just the header on and jeez. I think the 12a's are a lot louder than the 13b's or at least way higher pitch. I have a ported 13b in my repu and that off the header was nothing compared to the stock 12a in the 3. Also after about 10 minutes the carpet started to melt from where the pipe was right under the floor so watch out if any of you try this, b 4 you know it you will ne high offf carpet fumes, hheea.

You turbo guys who think your cars are loud with an open exhaust should try it in an N/A sometime . I prefer the sound of the open stock manifold better down low (louder, deeper, and meaner), while WOT in the higher rpm range sounds very cool with a header, although it sounds a bit more metallic--oh yeah, and it's ear-piercingly loud!

check this out, back then when i got my header, i put it on hoping that i can somehow bolt it to the stock cat and drive it down to muffler shop to have the exhaust made. I get up 8am and put on the header and i found out that the cat doesn't fit the header. So i'm like sure i can drive this with just the header on. I start the car and walla my mirrors and windows are shaking so hard from the noise. So i push the car out of our street so i don't get all the neighbours mad. i'm driving down the main road to the exhaust shop and my luck I hit this stupid police road check. Good thing i had a appointment with the shop. So the cops end up calling the shop to make sure i wasn't bsing.

As soon as the cops tells me it's ok to go with no tickets, i took off reving the car up to like 7500rpm in first and drop it in second and it backfired so loud. i could see the expresion on the cop's face in my rear-view mirror. it was sweet

Of course i got home later on with the biggest damn head-ache ever.

Sorry for the long post, had to get it out of the system at 2am.

hey guys u know its not good to run with just teh header right? that puts a lot of strees on the header from all that exhasut gas hittign the tip while exiting causing vibrations and since it directly attacehed to the engine u are havign the same vibrations on your poor 2 hamster powered moter

Last year, I pulled my whole exhaust (collector an all) to get a header installed. I drove very gently to the muffler shop, except for one time I was behind a guy on a Harley. I just had to punch the gas to watch his head spin around - small mistake - I melted the plastic straps on the wheelhouse.

Back in the day, when i was running my 12a peripheral engine on the street, i ran it uncorked for a little while. We live out in the country, so the neighbors realy did 'nt mind. You wanna talk loud? My x-girlfriend and i could'nt yell across the car to each other. We took the car for a spin to my buddys house about 2 miles away, as the crow flys. My buddys dad, said he actually heard the thing start up...and start getting closer. He said when i was a mile or so down the road, he figured it was me. It was just insane....my ears hurt so much, i could'nt even take it above 7,500. When we finally got there, and shut off the car....there was nothing but ringing in my ears. She thought it was louder than a pro-stock (Drags) car. I've driven around n/a 13Bs, 12a's all uncorked....but nothing compares to a peripheral engine with an open exaust. CJ
