Do I need the FTP's?

My FTP's are cloudy and I can't seem to get them clear. My question is, would it be legal to just paint over them (the same color as my car), or do I need them?

buy new ones. They're like $10 from the dealer. You couldn't even buy the paint for that.

I see them selling on ebay for like $30-$40 a piece, are they really that cheap from mazda?? Also, you can get some of that plastic restorer stuff.....cant think of the name of it right now.....but I can almost guarantee it will clean them.

Hmmm ok I've got a can of paint that matches my car, I guess even if I sanded them down the paint would just flake off?

I got black FTPs on mine. Looks good. You can't use the "flash to pass" method anymore though; not that anyone know what it means!

i am gonna put black flm on mine when i paint my car black. most pop-up cars dont have them. so you dont have to have them.

in fact, i seem to remember that flashing people is illegal. i remember a guy getting pulled for it

That's because other cars with pop-up lights raise them when you flash them the high beams. RX-7's don't need to do that because they were designed to shine through the FTP lenses.

Illegal? Damn, that's harsh, considering nearly every car I've seen is able to flash their high beams.
In Europe it's the normal way to tell cars in front you want them to move over so you can pass, and most people happily oblige. Most of the moron drivers over here take it as a mortal insult, even if they're doing under the speed limit in the fast lane...
