crossthreaded sparkplug

obiously this is a bad thing, as the life of rotarys deal with the sparkplugs, we tried tapping it, that didint seem to work, so we may have to look into a heilicoil. anyone have any advice or experiance with this? (this being, the crossthreaded sparkplug hole)

I believe that is a 14x1.25 thread, so run that tap through it some more. I have had success with this. You'll still have to be careful threading in new plugs, they will still want to cross thread.

I'm not sure about a helicoil in a rotorhousing...never heard of or seen it done...there isn't a lot of material to work with there, remember there are coolant passages directly adjacent to the plugs. I suppose it could work, but I don't know how you'll get a nice square hole drilled and tapped properly with the engine in the car.

for reals, there's not much space to work with while the engine is still in

its kinda common sense as why it wont. the lifes of rotarys depend on the sparkplugs/compression, and if you have a crossthreaded sparkplug that is not giving its all, plus letting compression out, as well as gas smoke like a ****, then that engine wont last long.

i don't believe it'd kill it any quicker. Unless it's so bad that a seal would come into contact with a plug...otherwise you'd just be down on power due to bad ignition (because after all teflon tape would seal it up)

well, if yall dont think it would kill it any quicker then maybe you are right, i just think in my opinion it would, i know its not helping it any better then if it wasint like that, and rotarys dont like to deal with problems very much
